We bought DD her backpack, lunchbox and school sneakers yesterday. I got all teary when the tried the backpack on - it looks so big! We'll probably get her uniform this week or next week.
Oh, but she was awake at 2:00 and 4:30 this morning. When she woke up for real while I was getting int he shower, she asked for my phone. "Oh, I'm sorry honey. You didn't get enough sleep last night so you can't possibly have the energy to use my phone. Nope, you can't help me make my protein shake either. Only girls who stay in their beds all night get enough sleep to do fun things like that." She protested, but not too much, then got ready without any hassle.
We go back to school Monday, and I DON'T WANT TO. I prefer the summer routine, but I suppose it will be nice to have a more regular routine again. Getting up early sucks though; I hate it. I also have done zero school supply shopping, so that's good. The kids got new shoes during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but that's all I've done.
Here are my wahhhhhhhhhhhhh my kids are growing up pictures I took Friday and Saturday.
Pool day Friday, with a then and now twist, from 3 years ago.
eclaires - I refuse to believe that kid, old enough to play football, is your baby boy. When did that happen?!
He just look so grown up and big with the pads on and everything. It's freaking me out. Plus, he's going to the INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL this year (3-5). WHAT'S NEXT? COLLEGE?!
I am not ready.
Also, he owns my whole heart. At the pool on Friday, this 10yo who is kind of a jerk was trying to knock Sass off her pool float. Usually, I can only hear what the kids say if they are being loud (bickering with each other most likely), but I heard his voice. He said to the kid, in this super stern and seriously loud voice, "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO KNOCK MY SISTER OFF THAT FLOAT." He's generally just so calm and laid back, but he hates bullies. I love it.
I thought this was an old random cause it's wawa still pregnant.
A is calling vacation "coronation". He's going to be so disappointed when Prince Hans doesn't show up.
twotrue A will yell at us "No! I don't want to!" when we tell him to go to his room. What? That is not an option? Who told you that was an option?! I would have been beaten.
We took the kids to the National Building Museum and their beach exhibit, which is basically a room made to look like a beach with a giant ball pit for the ocean. Thing is huge and the kids had so much fun.
I want to post some pics, but they are huge. Anyone know how to make the smaller? For the moment I'll settle for posting these adorable pics.
DD3 really wants to play soccer. I really want her to as well - she's pretty much the only athletic kid I have.
DH doesn't want her to because he doesn't "want it to turn into a thing, and no offense, but I'm always the one who ends up doing that stuff." He's right, he does bear most of it during the year, because I'm, ya know, working. I'm sorry, but you don't want your kid to do something she wants to do and might be good at because it might be hard for you?!

@mesh - your DD's hair kills me. I wanted a kid with that hair so bad. My DH is red headed, but I guess my genes aren't receptive to that.
We are living with only two kids this week... sent the oldest to spend a week with my sister on vacation and spend about 4 days with his best friend in CO. It's oddly way more calm. The middle and youngest bicker a lot less than when the oldest is around. Oh and I let my 2.5 year old watch Harry Potter b/c I was lazy last night. We all sat and watched and I thought after, "Oh, I'm one of those parents that first time parents hate b/c their kid comes home from kindergarten asking to watch PG-13 movies b/c Ryder did it." I feel like the I, the mighty cloth-diaper, no guns parent, has fallen pretty far from where I was 9 years ago with my first born.
Oh and I held a baby this weekend - he's already 3 months, so not even newborn - and instantly wanted more kids. I'm insane and it's good that I know I don't want kids, just that babies are awesome.
wawa - you really like your kids well done, eh? :-)
I can't believe how big your kid is, because I think mine is still pretty young and looks it, and then realize he's older than Shorti! Denial for both of us.
I do. I'm part elephant. He's perfectly cozy in there too. NST and fluid level check this AM and he's just hanging out happy as a clam.
And the only reason yours is older is because YOU BUTTED IN LINE. (I actually don't remember if you were due after or before me...but I know our kids were supposed to have much closer birthdays than they do)
wawa it's not just the hormones, she is ADORABLE!!! Sorry you're still pregnant. Are ILs back yet?
Thanks! and yeah, I think they're back. I haven't heard from them...I guess I should call/email and let them know that the induction is scheduled.
I've decided they can suck it...my mama is here already so I'm set. She lives 2.5 hours away so they were our local backup, but with her here I don't need them. And I'm still annoyed at them for not even like...acknowledging that they were leaving us in a bit of a lurch. The whole situation is just so weird and unlike their usual MO.

Tell him no excuses! I'm the one here who deals with all the juggling and my kid wanted to play football. He rarely asks for anything like this, so I signed him up thinking it would be a little more of a commitment than basketball was for his age because it's more complicated for the kids to learn the game. Yeah it has taken over my whole life. Our whole schedule is dictated by football for an 8yo. It's insane and I don't know if I would have agreed if I knew this in advance.
Usually soccer for the young ones is pretty low commitment to begin with and a super consistent schedule. Scarlett wants to try it but I think I've talked her into waiting for spring because with school starting and dance twice per week, I would rather wait until we are back in the groove and don't have football too.

My kids are at the ILs house for the week. I'm pretending they're at DC and then just in their rooms asleep when I get home from work. We get them back Friday. At least DH and I can watch GoT uninterrupted. Also, here's DD from last week. And a bathtub shot of DS. I miss my babies!!
I took DS to the ER last week to make sure he wasn't dehydrated or sick since he refused bottles so much at daycare. nope! Just needed pain meds. He looks like he's in pain, no?

I'm always last.
I think I was due a day before you. Feb. 24 and he came on the 18th. We are an impatient people in my family.
oh yep, that's about as bad as I remember, but at least you were actually due before me. I was due on the 28th and didn't have shorti until March 12th.
ABSURD. This was is going to be 27th to 4th. (please 4th. not 5th) Which is less ridiculous.
I have a 3 year old assistant at work today due to a last minute day care cancellation. She was doing ok but didn't take a nap today and my boss bought her skittles. I have an hour left and I may go crazy. It'a good thing she is cute.
