We had ants in our clothes hampers this am because H left his clothes outside after yard work. So I cleaned that up and then forgot all my packed food for the day. :/
H is waffling on the next vacation I was about to pay deposits on. I hate when he gets that way.
I am having heart palpitations over travel next summer.
Dh's sister is getting married in May. ($600 plane tickets +car +hotel) My sister will likely be getting married in August. ($1200 plane tickets + car + hotel)
And my group of friends who got together last summer are already talking about renting a house for a long weekend . They are trying to be kind and accommodate me (rental near my parents, which would be a $600 plane ticket at a minimum), but FFS, ladies, dh JUST went back to Work, we have a decent amount of financial catchup to factor in, and, to be honest, i have a hard time trusting the longevity of a job in construction because we're gotten burned. ANXIETY!
I found out a buddy of mine is getting married next spring, yay! So happy for her!
DH and I went to the Iowa Irish Festival over the weekend, and it was awesome! It was a small celtic festival (and, really, celtic would be a better descriptor), but big enough to have four stages for music, but with buildings and such that kept the noise from one stage from bleeding into the area of another stage. They had some highland games going on, and you could sit to watch those while in ear-shot of the main stage, so you could see the crazy events with the backdrop of some awesome music... Heard some great bands I'd never heard before, got to see a couple I've heard before, and was super-excited to see... And bought lots and lots of music...
And, supper is mostly figured out. The crock pot is going for some shredded pork w/BBQ sauce. Yum.
Oh, and this is a short week for me - I get to go to Chicago this coming weekend! Yay, yarn crawl!
I went to a baby shower yesterday and I heard someone say the name that MH and I were/are thinking of using for a hypothetical son - it's climbing the popularity charts lately and it's a shared ancestor's name to boot. Turns out they were talking about someone else entirely, and then they said the baby's (different) name but I'm still wondering if they could change their mind when he arrives. I know that I can't claim a name, but I got really upset about it. It would have been an "icing on the cake" moment to a crappy few weeks.
Also, I pumped my own gas yesterday for maybe the fourth time in my entire life. It took several tries to even pay at the pump, although it was because of the PIN pad rather than user error. I kept praying that the car wouldn't explode after I drove away, lol.
Happy Monday! I'm feeling good today because the sun is shining, yet it's not a million degrees out and humid. Yet. I don't know what the weather is supposed to be like later, but it was nice walking into work today.
My car started to overheat on Saturday so I made an appointment to get it looked at tomorrow. I'm hoping it's just low on coolant or something, but it's never happened before so I was pretty WTF about it. We're going to my parents' house this weekend, which means 7 hours round trip of driving, so I need to make sure it's ok before we take off.
My family is going to the Wisconsin State Fair and 6 Flags this weekend. I'm so freaking excited to see them all and do fun stuff together. I haven't seen one of my sisters since January and we haven't all been in the same place since then (obviously, I guess, lol) so it will be nice to just all be together.
On Friday, we discovered a leak in our HVAC. We had to turn the A/C off until we had someone out to fix it. Thankfully it was just a blocked pipe. So it was relatively MM to fix ($213).
We spent Saturday evening with my dad, stepmom and sister while they are down here to see my stepmom's mother. It was fun hanging out with them.
Realized 5 minutes from work that I forgot my lunch. And then when I got into work, there was no A/C. So I have been sitting in my hot office. The air is finally back on but it's still warm.
When I thought the day was going to be bad, I got a call about a job that I applied for. They want to schedule an interview!! Oh, and it has promotion potential. Woohoo!
I've been fighting a cold for what seems like forever and I took a sick day today, it turns out I am horrible at being sick. At least my house will be clean when I go to work tomorrow.
mbcdefg - I am sorry you had a tough day yesterday between the shower and gas pumping. If it's any consolation, it gets better. It's never quite the same, but it does get better.
Sigh. I think Wyatt is having bladder issues again. Which means I now have to find a new food for that AND potential food allergies. I cannot express how small of a window that is. I really don't want to go homemade but..fuck.

There is this great little restaurant a few miles from my house that Boyfriend and I tried over the weekend. They advertise as having a dog friendly patio, so we brought Rocko.
Dog friendly is no joke! We enjoyed our food but Rocko got the best dinner. They have a steak sandwich on the menu and offered him steak scraps cut off the ends of the flank steak. Since I don't feed him raw they grilled it up for him and he had a steak dinner for free. Lucky dog!
We got back from vacation on Saturday night and this is my first day back to regular life since 7/23 and it is sort of lame. I don't like laundry.
Vacation was great! We drove to Napa (my family lives there), went on the Jelly Belly Factory tour, and went to their store where DD2 kept trying to eat jelly beans off the floor. My parents borrowed a big bounce house for the kids the next day and we had a family barbecue for DS1 and grandpa's birthdays. The rest of the week went like this- drove to Eugene, OR to stay with some friends, drove to Florence, OR to have ice cream and watch the jelly fish swim around, hiked Sweet Creek Falls with the kids, went to an indoor water park, ate a cinnamon roll the size of my head, jumped around at an indoor trampoline park, took the kids to a pizza place with a play yard and arcade, ate Voodoo Donuts (got the giant round donut for DS1's birthday breakfast), had a date night out with friends while babysitters took care of our four kids and our friends' three, drove to Portland, met up with BIL and SIL and went to the zoo, OMSI, IKEA, swam at our hotel, went to the Portland LDS Temple, and ate Salt and Straw ice cream. We drove through Medford, OR on the way home and stopped by the LDS Temple there and then settled in for the 13.5 hour drive home. It was exhausting, but we made some amazing memories with our kids and I wouldn't change that for anything.
I'm here again because I just had a victory. After only 30 minutes, I got Cigna to realize that they weren't including my pharmacy bills in our in-network deductible. They are going to fix it and we should get some money back!
I'm home with DD today (Mondays are "stay home days" for us), and OMFG we've gotten a LOT done. Put all the laundry away, meal planned, grocery shopped, put groceries away, laundry and uploaded a bunch of photos to shutterfly.
It looks like we were able to cash-flow our Europe trip! H had two paychecks in July, which helped immensely.
I start teaching as an adjunct four weeks from TOMORROW! Oh shit...
So I downloaded Bittersweet Symphony to use in spin, and I have this crazy (non-literal) "time to burn shit down" feeling every time it plays.
This has prompted me to watch Cruel Intentions to try to remember what happens in the movie while this song is playing--I can't quite remember.
THE HAIRSTYLES!!!!!! Why was pulling out two strands of hair out at your temples a thing?
H and I are still watching Buffy (finally up to season 4, I think) and I think of Cruel Intentions at least once every episode because of SMG. Buffy is also a good example of terrible hairstyles.

Haha, I had drawings in my eighth-grade diary of me (all dumpy, in lame clothes, with bad hair, and a "Sigh" thought bubble) standing next to the two popular girls in class. One was preppy and had really long fluffy hair and a big bright smile.
The other one had that tight ponytail, gelled back within an inch of its life, with the two greasy tendrils pulled out over her forehead. She was smoking a cigarette and I drew in a word balloon with curse words ... censored with little stars and pound signs, of course, because I was a goody-goody who thought I'd wind up in hell if I even wrote out a dirty word.
My sister and her BF brought over a big Rubbermaid tote of my journals when I first moved in with now-MH. I don't doubt that they read them first. They came with us when we bought our house, for some reason, and stayed in the basement for a couple of years until I finally put them out for recycling. I didn't shred them or anything, though, so I sort of shudder to think where they may have ended up.
I'm starving. I was on my way to the metro when I realized I forgot my lunch but didn't want to turn back because I have back up food at work.
H flew to NC last night....last minute because my parents wanted to come up today and wanted him to help drive up. They're not even old. My dad is 58 and my mom is 49. Perfectly capable of the 8 hour drive. He woke up at 7 and got or fish tank together to drive up and my parents weren't ready until 2pm and are stopping every hour. It's going to be 12 before they get here and I have to wake up at 4:30.
At lunch time, I make my back up ramen lunch and it tasted weird. And that was all I have left. So I tossed it and now I'm starving. I hate wasting food if that treks you how hard it was to eat it. I rushed to get all my work done early so that I am now on my way home to eat, clean a little, and put a new fish tank stand together before they get here with the fish tank.
My parents are guests in my home for the first time! They never visited in Florida because they were always working. Man, retirement must be move. They just got back from 10 days in California.

Is this, like, a thing with generations older than mine? When I went to the shower this weekend I asked repeatedly for the restaurant address or even just the name but everyone just said to follow them. I nearly peed myself because I had no idea that the place was 30 minutes away, I had originally been told to meet at someone's house so I figured I could pee there before we left, and I couldn't stop off to pee somewhere because I had to keep following someone since I was never told where the party was. Someone asked MH ahead of time if I wanted a ride there so that I wouldn't have to drive alone, and when I was leaving at the end they all asked me if I needed to follow someone out or if someone should come in the car with me until I got closer to home. I've also had other relatives look at me like I have five heads because MH doesn't drop me off at showers and then just sit in the car or kill time nearby until I'm ready to go home.
I'm in my 30s. I have my own car, a cellular phone, money/credit cards, and a GPS app that actually talks to me and tells me where to go. I am grateful that people are looking out for my comfort and safety, but come on, people. I'm a woman, not a glass vase who's going to break.
And my mom is the same way as your parents. I live 30 minutes away and whenever I invite her over she's all, "Oh, I don't know, it's so far. I don't know if I can get home before dark." And then she gets lost every single time. It's two major highways to my house and that's it.

So I think we are listing our house this weekend instead of next weekend so we can try and close by Labor Day. Schools start around here the Tuesday after Labor Day. I'm freaking out a bit about this but its probably all the best.
