Size up and have them taken in? I'm 5'3" and DD. I've had random luck at h&m, j crew, and gap. For me though I find that when they fit the boobs, they are sometimes too tight at the waist so there's odd pulling on the lowest button. It's annoying.
Interesting thread to me. I'm 5' and a DD and have sworn off button shirts. Tired of the gaping and constant tugging and being self-conscious about it. And when I did find a shirt that fit the DDs it was too boxy elsewhere and looked bad.
I don't have any recommendations, but I discovered a trick. A lot of shirts I find fit but just have that gap. Button the shirt up to the gap and sew it shut, making sure to leave enough room that you can still put it on. For me it works better if the shirt has a placket over the buttons, so you don't have to be a great sewer.

I'm taller but I don't really wear them anymore. If I do, I wear them open. Plus I don't like to iron so it works out.

Me too. I am 5' 3" and 38F. Although a friend buys nice ones through higher end stores and takes them to a tailor. She buys it to fit her breast size and then has the lower half taken in with darting. It just seems like too much work to me.
I'm 5'3" with 34DD's. I normally use dress tape to close the gap on button downs. You can get it at Target. Very rarely wearing a tank or cami underneath will close the gap if it's a looser fitting shirt.
