Position opened up recently for internal hire. (It was 2 grades higher than me so I wasn't eligible). About 8 people applied: Jennifer A, Jennifer B, Jack, Jill, Fred, and Barney, etc.
*detail poof. But punchline left*
Punchline: HR called the WRONG JEN (Jen A) to offer the position. And so the job offer was rescinded, and Jen B got the job.
RockNVoll - right?! Ugh. I feel so sorry for Jen A. And then I think - no wonder I need out. And this is the same HR person that told me not to waste her time applying to jobs.
Also, there was a PDQ there I have a lot of details that I'll probably cut down to the last line.
Oh rubytue, that's sooooo bad! and an excellent reminder of why it's so important to remain gracious in any resignation and not burn bridges! and wait for a written offer when at all possible! That poor woman.
So true. But almost worse - This is all internal! She has to keep working with these people.

I should find out about the job this week I think.
On another note, all those meetings are paying off in a way. I got two emails this week from directors asking me to apply for jobs. They're very good positions and directly from the director of each branch. It would be amazing if that worked out! One is senior project mgmt consultant and the other is project lead for a new PMO.
rubytue OMG that's horrible!!! Id be so angry if I was Jen A and so unmotivated to work.
FWIW, I haven't seen her in the office this week. Which I understand. I would so be like "I'm on vacation. Starting now! Where? Whatever is on sale leaving tomorrow. I'll see you when I calm the fuck down."
Eta: we are govt so pulling the vacation thing wouldn't even get your fired lol
Ok I am checking back in! Last time i posted i was feeling very discouraged because i hadn't heard anything. Well, I'm still in limbo but I did have my second interview for the big across the country job.
I think I did a good job but didn't get a clear feeling if they think I'm the right fit. Time will tell.
The other recruiter for a consulting gig got some details back to me so I'm following up this week with information she requested. The pros are also cons here: no need to move, lots of travel, and lots of new projects. I would get paid SO much more money but wouldn't be guaranteed full time employment or benefits. So this is an intriguing oppy but needs a lot of thought.
Finally I sent a message through LinkedIn to someone who now works at a company here I'm interested in. Have not heard back yet.
I took the day off from the hunt to go to the beach with a friend. I came back to an email offering me a grade 5 teaching interview. I love what I've learned about this school, and how they teach and their whole philosophy. It's high poverty, which is exactly where I want to be.
I will be spending the majority of my time cramming every bit of info I can and relating my skills/experiences to their goals. Interview is next Wednesday.
I'm checking in. There is finally a position posted in my organization that I am interested in. I think it is slotted for someone, but I intend to apply anyway and get my name out there.
Update 2: I think the interview went well this morning- I got a lot of "that answer was spot-on" so apparently I said all the right things... There will be one more round (with the business team is be working with) if I make this cut. The GC said they had 40 applicants ( this position was posted on 7/31), 20 got to the initial screen with the recruiter. I'm guessing he narrowed it down to 10 for th current round and they'll probably bring in the top 3? So, fingers crossed...
I'll join this officially. We are hoping to move back to MD from GA. My H has a great opportunity there that we just cannot pass up.
I just got word today about an interview. They will fly me up there, and I'll need to present to the group on some analytic work that I have done. I have a presentation already put together that describes an interesting problem for a project I worked on in 2009. It's interesting and analytical. But not recent. Most of my recent work hasn't been that interesting analytically. Should I use this presentation on the older but interesting topic or pick something new? FWIW, the position I am interviewing for is not analytic in nature. It's more administrative.
I'm behind in this thread, but oh wow! Congratulations to Mr. Womet, but I'll be sad to see you go. Good luck on your interview!

Thanks! I have only told a few here until this thread. We met with the realtors last night and the house will be listed on the 21st. I just hope I find something soon so that my time apart from H is short. Sad to leave but looking forward to being closer to family.
