Have you ever eaten one, or do you even know what they are?
Curious because this is one of my favorite things to eat in the summer, but some of my friends have never heard of it. I think it might be regional.
Omg yes. A garden fresh tomato on white bread with mayo, salt and pepper is one of my favorite things in the world. Replace the tomato with cuke and you have my second favorite thing ever. I am from northern ny originally but my mom is from Missouri and she always made these.

So good! I grew up eating them, with Hanover tomatoes, mayo, salt and pepper on white or potato bread. Best with a Dr. Pepper and a side of crab chips.
I used to eat tomatoes like apples when I was a kid and would eat tomato sandwiches on the regular. Over the last 20 years tomatoes just don't taste the same and are flavorless from the grocery store. I need to start growing my own because I miss them. It doesn't help that H won't stop putting them in the fridge because they last longer. They might last longer, but they'll taste so bad you wish they had rotted. ;-)

I agree with ALL of these things. Tomatoes are not worth eating if they are not fresh from the garden. Pink, firm, flavorless grocery store tomatoes are disgusting. Give me a warm, sun-ripened, acidic-as-fuck tomato every time. And don't ever put that bitch in the fridge!
I just remembered that the Tomato Fest is happening this weekend and this thread just got me pumped.

You're fairly passionate about your tomatos. lol
I won't argue this. I grew up on a farm and my dad grew tons of tomatoes every year, so I come by it honestly.
