Just had my saline infused ultrasound done today. OMG, it hurt so bad! Has anyone else had any experience with this, and did you have a lot of pain with it? I'm fine with transvaginal ultrasounds, but as soon as they put the catheter up I was dying. I was sweating and tears were running down my face. The nurse seemed freaked out and kept asking if I wanted to hold her hand or if I needed a cold washcloth for my face. The cramps were so intense! It's been a couple of hours now and I'm not really cramping anymore, so that's good.
The doc said that everything looked good. In fact, he said to tell DH that I have "a beautiful uterus." He said that structurally they see no reason why I shouldn't be able to have kids. So that's good...of course, I still wonder why it's taking so long. I go for a follow up with my RE next Thursday and see what we'll do from there. OH, but the doc did mention that for some unknown reason, having the SIS can make you more fertile for the next cycle or two, so hopefully it helps! Fingers crossed!
I had a sono-HSG done and had a lot of pain with it as well. I had incredible cramps during, but they were almost completely gone 5 minutes after the procedure was over. For me it wasn't as much when they inserted the catheter, but more when they injected the air bubbles. I had always heard that if you had any bit of blockage it may help to clear it out and a lot of people would get pregnant afterwards, but it didn't happen for me. Hopefully you have better luck!

Mine hurt really bad too My RE said it would be uncomfortable because I've never had a baby and my cervix was closed, but holy crap was I unprepared. They injected air bubbles to check my tubes and that was the worst.
Glad everything was good with your uterus and fingers crossed for increased fertility
This will be my next step after my pelvic ultrasound on Friday. I knew it would be painful, but yikes! Glad the cramping has gone away. I've also heard about the increased chances of conceiving after an HSG so hopefully that holds true for you!
kellikans and ratherbepaddling, I'm sorry you guys had to go through that too. But I'll admit, it makes me feel better knowing that other women found it painful too. Everyone made me feel like I was being a baby about the whole ordeal! My mother drove me to the appointment (it was over an hour away and I didn't want DH to take a day off work for it) and she had this done over 20 years ago. She said I just have a low pain tolerance. I was wondering if a) it's been so long that she forgot the pain, or b) it wasn't as bad since she had already had a couple of kids by that point. I was told it's be like getting a pap smear but that was a lie.
belle55, didn't mean to scare you with this post! Despite the intense pain, it went away very quickly once they were done. I only had a couple of cramps here or there and nothing super intense after the appointment. Hopefully it won't be as bad for you.
And everyone else, thanks. Hoping this will be our cycle, although I've been saying that for quite a time now!
Super late to the party, but mine was horrific. The radiologist saw "something" in there and wanted to make sure it wasn't an air pocket, so she shoved a bunch of extra dye up there and sweet baby jesus was that painful. Glad to hear that everything looks good althou8gh I understand that's frustrating. Fingers crossed for you!
