My niece and nephew (11 and 9) love all things Nike or Under Armour. There is an outlet nearby, and I can get great deals, and look like the best aunt ever.
I wish all trends were that comfortable . And finally something that will suit most kids no matter what size they are.
My kid is only 6, but that's the trend at his school too. I mean, I get it - I also want to wear elastic waist bands everyday, but I still want him in cute little clothes. Luckily, target has a knock off of the under armour golf polos & shorts for when he needs to dress it up a bit.

Oh my gosh I may actually be on trend with a style. My SAHM uniform is workout clothes.
i was going to say this seems to be the sahm uniform around here, too. i'm not partaking, because i would look ridiculous. it kinda makes me giggle seeing moms at the playground with big frappucinos and whipped cream in head to toe nike spandex
This makes me think back to my grade school days when Umbro shorts were the hot clothing item. Fila and Puma had a turn too somewhere around middle school.

I promise I don't wear spandex! Haha and I do eventually end up at the gym in my gym clothes.
My DS pretty much only wears athletic clothing. He's not picky about brands though, which is nice, although he's starting to recognize them more. DD, on the other hand, cried when I made her try on the little adorable workout cropped leggings I got her from ON and LE.

I loved my umbros! I had the brightest hot pink and neon orange ones (that I had to share with my sister, ugh) and thought I was the coolest.

This is absolutely true. My (old) job was in buying for this sector of retail.
Athleisure is the new buzzword, and the toddler/preschool/early elem market continues to grow as well. The fitted sweat pant is a big statement piece this fall. It will be interesting to see how the retailers that invest heavily in denim fare.
I am dying over sweat pants being a statement piece this fall. It's like I've died and gone to heaven, I might actually be fashionable for once in my life.
That is definitely how my kids dress, but they are only 7 and (almost) 9. I wear a workout skort when I want to be fancy, but I've been in workout clothes more often than not this Summer. No frappe's for me though b/c money is tight and Starbucks is expensive. I'm trying my best to fit the SAHM cliche otherwise.
It seems like the uniform for girls on the college campus is short running shirts + a t shirt so big you can't even tell they're wearing pants.
I won't lie, it looks super comfy. I need more workout clothes.
Yes. This is what my sister wears. She also wears tall socks with running shoes or sandals. They rarely wear makeup and throw their hair on top of their head in a messy bun. I cannot believe that's what's in style.

This is pretty much my DD's wardrobe all the time. In the winter she switches it up and wears yogas and a hoodie. She always says, " this year I am really going to try to dress better for school", and then about 2 weeks in, yogas. lol
I think for once I am glad my kid's school has a uniform (well they have to wear polos at least). We have no athleticwear for him unless it is for like actual sports. Under Armour and Nike are expensive!!!
That's big here too. We have a dress code and some of the items kids can order with the school logo are basketball shorts and jerseys. Most of the boys will wear that every day. A lot of younger girls wear cute skirts and whatnot but by 5th and 6th grade it's all workout leggings (and you don't want to know how many 6th graders wear lululemon!). Wish I could dress like that every day.
@lazerus24, the best place I have found for Under Armour is on Amazon. I buy a lot of J's Under Armour from there. I don't know if it holds true for bigger kid sizes but it would be worth a look.
That is great to know! I usually drive to the outlet here and get him a new haul each season.
The hats run $20 a pop and he has about 12 of them. Sigh.
