DD won't keep anything in aside from the headband tiara I bought. I do put her hair up because I can't stand how grow it gets during meals. It does not last though.
It's entirely up to her. Some days she wants it in a pony, some days "like Anna and Elsa" but most days she wants it down. She used to be big into clips but not really right now.
My only requirement is she lets me brush it. I may have threatened to cut it if she doesn't let me brush it.

Both my DDs have long curly hair. I have always used the tiny rubberbands made for those rainbow loom bracelets. Work great. (I cut them out usually because otherwise it hurts getting them out)
Is it the fact that my daughter just has extremely thin and straight hair or am I doing something wrong? I've never once had to cut those plastic rubber bands out and she can pull them out super easily herself. Am I not wrapping them enough times?
DD is 2.5 and loves to have her hair in pigtails or ponytails. Clips stay on for a while but eventually she pulls them out or they slip out because her hair is so fine and thin. She is not a big headband fan right now but I don't think they look great with her current hair anyway.
We use a wet brush and a comb. I bought a big bag of colored mini rubber bands at the dollar store and they are amazing. They stay in all day but don't rip her hair out and they don't break like other ones I have tried

Maybe. Are you using the bracelet rubber bands? Those Goody shiny plastic ones they sell as kids hair ties suck IMO. Also, I do put them in pretty tight. The curly hair usually gets tangled a bit around them, that's why I cut them out.

I am using the Goody ones for kids. I'll check the others out!
True story, I convinced DD to get her first haircut by posing it as "If you cut your hair kinda short, we probably wouldn't have to put it up so much."
