I just wanted to share an update for those who took the time to respond and also in case anyone else has this problem in the future. Unfortunately, I had an ectopic pregnancy that eventually ruptured. Fortunately, my doctor was able to save my tube although it may be damaged. I'm not sure what are next steps are from here and have many follow-up appointments to attend.
But one thing I learned: trust your body. So many people have said that they had bleeding in early pregnancy, or it could've been implantation bleeding. I just knew that wasn't the case for me though. However, my hormone levels were rising appropriately, so unfortunately it wasn't found until it was too late. In retrospect, I wish I would've pushed harder for a more thorough scan. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I wanted to share in case it helps anyone later on.
I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sorry I didn't see your first post about it. I had an ectopic pregnancy a couple of years ago, and it happened almost exactly as you described. I thought I had my period, but it was shorter and crampier than usual. Then I got several positive OPKs around CD 11, which prompted me to take an HPT, which was positive. A week and a half later, I started bleeding again, went into the A&E, and they confirmed it was ectopic and whisked me off to emergency surgery.
Most doctors advise that you wait at least 3 cycles before trying again, to give your tube time to recover. I never had any follow up appointments, other than seeing my GP 6 weeks after surgery to make sure I was feeling okay.
I saw this on the app so I hope you don't mind me butting in...
First, I'm so sorry for your loss. The same exact sequence of events you experienced happened to me (negative pg test, got my "period", strange early positive ovulation test, surprise BFP, low beta numbers, ruptured ectopic). I wound up losing a tube. My dr had us wait 3 months or two cycles before TTC again.
My ectopic surgery was 8/28/13 and I got my period back in early October. The first cycle I was allowed to try in November, I wound up conceiving my daughter. She was born exactly one year and one day after my ectopic surgery.
When you get pregnant after an ectopic, you are likely considered high risk until an IUP is confirmed. I had several beta tests drawn as soon as I got a positive and I had an u/s at 4, 5, and 6 weeks to be certain everything was progressing normally. I know how scary it is to have to experience something so traumatizing and I wish you much success in the future! If you have questions or anything, please feel free to PM me.
