My husband and I are heading to Denver in the first week in October. We are thinking about doing homeaway (etc) but do not know what is a good area. We are, also, looking for suggestions for things to do and places to eat. TIA

Will you have a car?
Downtown and Capital Hill will be centrally located and you will have easy access to restaurants and public transportation. Places like Lakewood, Littleton, Aurora, Highlands Ranch will require a car.
What do you like to do? If you like music you can see if anyone is playing at Red Rocks. You can check out some museums (Denver Art Museum, etc). Do you like outdoorsy stuff? Shopping? Beer?
If I was coming out here on vacation, I would stay in Cherry Creek. Actually, I would split it up and stay somewhere in the mountains for half of the trip and cherry creek for the rest.

Sorry, for my delay in responding. i had a family illness We found out that a panic at the disco will be playing and we got free tickets to go. Are there any shuttles to Red Rock? So we will be doing that. We like the outdoors but are not overly outdoorsy. DH brews his own beer so we will be hitting up some breweries for sure.

Outside the Colorado Mills Mall is a Chipotle that is absolutely delicious. <3
If your husband is into sports, purchase some tickets to the Rockies game at Coors Field. There is lots to do in Denver.

I think baseball might be wrapped up by the time they travel, and I'm also fairly sure the Rockies won't be in the playoffs.
Pepsi Center is in walking distance from that area and hockey will be in full swing.
