No. I really don't know anyone who has the whole family go. Most of my friends - both parents work and both kids go somewhere (school/ daycare/ or what have you). It would be too much to have everyone take one kid to school.
This must be a NY thing. The work day seems to start later than the school day here for a lot of people.
I also wonder if it's more a function of people's commutes than necessarily work hours. My husband will have a long commute starting this fall, so even though his work day starts later than school starts he will have to leave earlier. I live an hour south of NYC and most families have at least one person getting on the train/bus between 5:30 and 6:30 to get to jobs in the city.

Possibly. DH drops DD off at school and then bikes another 25 minutes or so to his office, arriving well before anyone else does. In the summer, he doesn't even set his alarm until after the time he would usually be dropping DD off for school (although DS has been waking us up earlier than that most days).

What time does school start? We start at 8:05, so if H worked nearby he could easily do that to get there before 9.
Sort of? DS is actually doing 2 weeks of camp at his new school before kindergarten actually starts, and DH plans on going the first morning of camp just to get him settled. I will have to drop off and run that day, since it is my first day of class as well.
DH works a 2 week rotating schedule, so we will be alternating drop off anyway. It's a lot easier for him than me on the days he works in the afternoon.

DH did not last year, but DD1's old preschool got them out of the car in the drop off lane. We didn't go in. Her new school does the first day is a visit with the parents, second day is an hour with just the kids, 3rd day is kids the entire time. DH will go to the first day visit, but that's it.
My DD isn't in school yet, but I'd say that it's the norm in my neighborhood, judging by how many families I saw walking last week. My neighbor usually scooters to school every morning with her daughter (they both have matching razor scooters--she's quirky that way) and I saw them walking on the first day with the dad/husband, who usually leaves for work before they go to school. It was so cute!
(also, I feel like this post makes me seem like a neighborhood busybody/stalker, but I swear, I just have a very good view of the sidewalk and a very walk-happy neighborhood!)

We weren't allowed to go into the school in CT, so in K, DH took the bus with them (a thing our school does the first week of school). In 1st grade I put them on the bus and waved (by myself) I a not sure if we will both take them for 2nd grade.
DH is taking the morning off to go with us to DS's first day of preschool. It's a car drop-off line so not very exciting, but I know DS will like having his daddy there.
No. I've never heard of this. Sometimes we all walk to pick them up, but that's randomly throughout the year instead of a first day of school thing. If you have the flexibility for you all to walk on the first day, it sounds like it could be fun.
I took the kids last year, but that was because I drove them the whole first half of the year. This year they will be on the bus the whole year, incl the first day. DH has never taken the kids to school.
Yesterday was DDs 1st day and my DH did the drop off like he normally does. My DD gets nervous and prefers the normal routine. There was an open house earlier this week that we all went to.
I guess DH and I will both take DD to school on her first day to take pictures, but I think we just drop her off and go home. Last year in kindergarten the first day was short and there was an orientation for parents, but I think first grade on up is just a regular day.
