When I hit my one year mark my OB actually referred me to a RE so we could start testing and all that other fun stuff. If you have been charting and such already I dont know how much more a midwife would be able to help you get pregnant. Good luck!

I'd just check with insurance to see if a referral is even necessary. No referral was necessary for my RE or my insurance, so I didn't even bother with an OB/GYN.
It was a good visit! Based on the blood work I've done, my chart, cycles, etc she's 99% sure I'm ovulating. The question now is why am I not conceiving. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound next month to see how things look in my uterus. Depending on how that goes I'll have an HSG. I brought up my concern about possible cysts so we'll be on the lookout for that but based on my symptoms she doesn't think it's an issue. Now I just need to get DH to do his SA. :/
We only have 1 RE in my small city and he doesn't have be best reviews on Google. He's who would do the SA (and is the only lab in the city that does it) but the results will be shared my my GYN office. Last night DH and I had a good talk and we're going to give it a bit longer before searching out an RE. Of course that could change depending on the results of his SA and my upcoming stuff.
Thanks again for all the input!
Is there another city an hour or two away that has a re you could go to? Many of us on the tttc board travel for our re. I do mostly because i dont have choice my re is an hour and half away.
ilovecandy - there is a women's clinic in the next town over that has "fertility options" listed on their website but no RE listed for the staff. The next biggest town is in the next state over and I'm sure there's an option there. That will probably be my next search.
I'm good with having some basic tests done by my GYN office for now. I honestly don't even know how far into treatment I would go so one step at a time.
Yeh i had most of my testing done by my gyn then was referred to a re.
Just wanted to say good luck! I did some of my testing through my OB (blood work, pelvic US) then switched to the RE because I felt I wasn't getting the response/attention from my OB's office so the RE did my HSG. There's a lot of testing the OB can do if you aren't in a hurry to see an RE and the location is convenient for you. Hope you get the answers you need!
