How's everyone doing?
I need some motivation. I'm doing ok with getting to the gym a few times a week, but still not as often as I'd like to go. Also, since it's been so hot, I haven't been doing quite as much walking as normal. I am REALLY looking forward to fall.
My eating is a mess though. I'm not following any type of plan at the moment, just trying to make good decisions, which is happening maybe 50% of the time. I know I need to follow some sort of plan. Last year I counted calories and used MFP and did ok, slow but steady loss over a few months. Then I went off track and gained it all back (and then some). Earlier this year I was again doing that same program and again, slow but steady loss. Then I went off the rails a bit, gained a few, and then got pregnant. I actually lost while pregnant from being so sick but I have since gained that all back (and an extra pound or 2).
I've done WW in the past without success. I don't know why it doesn't work for me but it doesn't (I've tried a few times). I've done low carb but I can't stick with that long term, after about 2 weeks I'm maxed out, so it's not a solution, more of a quick fix. What else is there? I'm guessing calorie counting/MFP is probably my best best and just remember that it's going to be slow but if I stick with it I'll make progress. I don't know. Really I just want to stuff my face with sweets right now.
I just started tracking on MFP. I had success on WW two years ago, but it was too expensive for the accountability and as soon as I stopped attending, I was able to maintain for a year. Now all that is back on. I'm hoping to hold myself accountable on MFP. We'll see.
I'm also aiming for 310,000 steps this month. It equals 10k a day. Right now I'm a little behind, at 181,096. I hit 10k around 3 pm today with school back up, and while I currently do not want to move my ass from the couch, I may take the pups at least around our little block once between now and bed to try to catch up the 9k steps I'm "behind" on my monthly goal.

grover I want to do something similar with steps, probably break it down per week so 70,000 (I might get too lazy if I wait a whole month) As soon as I get a new battery for my pedometer I'm going to start up again.

I'm doing terribly. I went into the clinic at my work today for my cough and about cried stepping on the scale. I haven't in a while because I know it's not at all where I want to be. I just have zero energy which I know is partially because I don't work out like I should. It's so frustrating and I hate it. My blood pressure was even up a little today (not super high, just higher than usual).
I need to get back on track but I don't know how I had H pick up some vitamins that are supposed to help with energy. I got the same brand for sleep and they really help so I'm hoping the energy ones work. I just need a little kick to get me just enough energy to be more active so I can start to feel better.
I also need to start tracking my food again. I'm just not being honest with myself and I really need to be. But again, I have so little energy to cook a normal meal that I end up stopping at McDonald's on the way home like I did tonight. Bad!

I'm right there with awick14. I've been getting my workouts in, but I'm sitting here eating Nerds by the handful.
HoneySpider - It sucks, but I've always been most successful with good 'ol fashion logging/counting. I've done especially well if I've focused on all-around macro consumption (protein, fat, carbs) vs. strictly focusing on caloric intake. It helps me see good fat loss and muscle building when I'm working out consistently. It's a lot more work than say Weight Watchers, but once my favorite foods are stored in my online tracking it's no big deal. You can google macro calculators and then plug in your own targets in your online tracker.
wanderingenough Yeah I'm probably going to go back to counting/logging....I just don't want to But if it works, it works. Can't argue with that.
Amen. I was just lamenting to a coworker the other day (who also uses MFP) about how much I hate counting calories and logging everything I eat. Because it sucks so bad. But alas, it is the ONLY way that I have ever successfully lost weight, so I keep along with it. I think my MFP streak at the moment is 93 days

Eating is my weak point.
Damn you chicken biscuits!
I have been meeting my goal of yoga three times a week. I know it is kind of a weak goal especially since I count moon salutations which aren't a great workout but I feel good about what I am doing.
I need to do more one leg poses to help my foot since I broke it but I don't wanna.

I have been doing horrible. I need to buckle down since I only have 2 months until vacation. I would like to look decent in my clothes so i am throwing out the junk food tonight and back on point starting tomorrow. Which is going to suck since I will be stuck at our town's fair all weekend surrounded by yummy fattening foods. I plan on bringing my own all weekend and sharing 1 item with H on Sunday.

Does anyone drink protein shakes in the morning? Do they really keep you full? I was thinking of getting some protein powder to mix with fruits and veggies but I just feel like I need solid food in the morning or I'm starving! But I like the idea of blending up a smoothie/shake and just drinking it on the way to work.
I just have been sucking all around. Food. Exercise. Everything. I have 0 energy with working 50-60 hour weeks with my 2 jobs. So when I do get an afternoon off I just have no motivation to do anything at all. I really need to make it a priority to get in at least 2-3 walks in a week. With the weather FINALLY cooling down maybe this will be possible. I also have to go to 2 different gyms this next week to check out their prices for H and I. That might help make me go. One of them is kitty corner from our apartment, so I am hoping that one is the winner with prices.
Good job to everyone who is rocking it and hugs and *healthy cookies* for everyone who isn't! We can do this!!!
estrellita I am curious about this as well. I'll be watching for answers too

estrellita I have known a few people who drink a protein shake in the AM either on the way to work/while at work and swear by it. They say it keeps them full....I have a mental block on it I need solid food lol.

estrellita I'm not a big shake/smoothie person because I feel like they don't satisfy me, but my mom makes shakes with a protein powder that I really like - tastes good and pretty filling. Of course I don't know what the powder is, but I've been meaning to buy some so when I find out from her I can pass on the info if you want to try it.
We have in the past done milkshakes sometimes for breakfast - 1 cup milk, one packet of hot cocoa mix, and one good sized tablespoon of peanut butter. And ice.

estrellita - I've tried in the past but they didn't keep me full past like 10am. Plus I hate the cleanup that comes with smoothies/shakes.
If you are thinking of trying some though, I've used the EAS protein powder from Target/etc. for post workouts. 30 secs in a shaker bottle with cold water or almond milk and it's smooth and tasted alright. It's pretty inexpensive if you want to make sure you like it.

I kinda feel like if it at least fills me up for a couple hours, I can just eat a granola bar or some other snack to hold me over until lunch. Hmmm. Might have to try it some time soon! Half of my coworkers do shakes all the time but they also work out more than me, haha. But hey, maybe it would help me get some energy back!
