The Man With A Load of Mischief, by Martha Grimes. British mystery, I just started, so far is enjoyable and quite funny. Our school year has not begun so I'm too busy to read because I'm caring for my kids all day long.
QOTW: I've never bought a celeb cook's cookbook, but I've been given a couple Rachel Ray cookbooks and I can't stand them. She uses ten thousand ingredients in every recipe, several of which are often not common.
I started Ivan Doig's latest/last book, Last Bus to Wisdom, but then my Julie Hyzy book came in at the library, so now I'm reading that (Grace Cries Uncle). I'm not very far in either, but I'm pretty confident I will like both.
School has been in here for a week and half. I'm still playing catch up on stuff I didn't get done during the summer and haven't settled into a routine yet. So right now I'm doing less reading.
QOTW: I almost never buy cookbooks and I have no celeb/tv cookbooks. I stick to my basics (Betty Crocker, joy of cooking, etc) and pull new recipes from online.

I'm reading Let's Pretend this Never Happened and trying to drudge through Great Expectations. LPTNH is very up and down for me. There are parts of it that I have to put the book down because I'm laughing so hard I can't read and parts that I think she is just trying to hard. Great Expectations is...I don't even know. I always have a hard time understanding the vocabulary of older books and this one seems to be exceptionally wordy.
I'm not sure how my reading will be impacted by school because my son starts Kindergarten on 9/1. I don't think it will change much. It probably will as we get closer to the holidays and my H starts working more.
QOTW: I don't really use cookbooks. I'm a pinterest kind of girl.
All the Light We Cannot See. About 40% done. Good so far.
QOTW: Off the top of my head, I don't own cookbooks by television chefs, but I have some from "celebrity" chefs and people who have been on television before: Mark Bittman, Marc Vetri, Isa Chandra Moskowitz.
I'm about halfway through The Light Between Oceans, which is good, but sad. I also just started Unbroken, but I'm only through the preface, so I haven't formed an opinion yet. I don't have kids so school has zero impact on my reading time.
QOTW: Have you ever bought a cookbook by a TV cooking personality or based on a TV cooking show? Nope. But I do have a cookbook from local authors, mostly because it's hilarious (one of the "recipes" involves finding the telephone and ordering from your favorite pizza joint).

I'm reading What the Deaf-Mute Heard (which was the basis for the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie What the Deaf Man Heard). It's a re-read, but I really enjoy the book. The book is different from the movie, but both have their good points.
I don't have kids, and school has been in here since February, though in three weeks it will be term break, so they'll be of for two weeks. But I do get more reading done during the term. DH is a teacher and we do more out-of-the-house things during breaks.
QOTW: I have some tv-show cookbooks: America's Test Kitchen, Breaking Bread with Father Dominic, The Urban Peasant, and a copy of the cookbook from TBS's series Dinner & a Movie. But I tend to avoid big-name celebrity chef cookbooks.
I just finished Dorothy Must Die which I got from the library on a whim. I was surprised that I did enjoy it. I'm currently on the wait list for the sequel. I just started Necessary Lies which I am loving so far. It hits home in a lot of places.
