I stopped the pill early March. I had my annual in mid-late April. At my annual, it had been about six weeks since my last period (would have been my sugar pill week in my last bc pack in early March.) Doc prescribed something to jump start my cycle, since she knows I stopped in order to start ttc.
I've been pretty regular since then. No real issues, usually within a day or so (give or take) of a normal 28 day cycle. A little spotting a day or two prior. The only real thing that has me wondering is that my period has been super light. Like one day of bright red/need a tampon, and one day of light spotting after. I was on the pill for nine years, and when on the one I was on the last year or so, that's how my periods were - 2-3 days.
My questions: 1. Should I be worried my period is so minimal or assume I'm lucky? Could it be (even after 6 months) my body is still adjusting? (Fwiw, they were never that light before the pill, nor for a majority of the years I was on the pill. Just towards the end when I went to a lower hormone pill.)
2. I know it's recommended you try for a year before setting an RE. Did anyone see their GYN earlier for standard testing? (I saw someone mention progesterone testing in another thread.) I'm probably going to poas tomorrow or Sunday (af due Wednesday). If negative this cycle, I'll be 6 cycles in. Should I look into getting some basic testing done? Do I need to ask for anything specific when I call?
General rule is you see an RE after a year if you are younger than 35 but after 6 months if you are older.
You could get some testing done with an OB but they might not catch everything. I saw an OB and they did some testing but missed my prolactin issue that the RE later caught and corrected and I think that made all the difference with DS.
Have you been charting? If not, I would start there. It can take a healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book.
ETA- charting can also help determine the issue like if your luteal phase is less than 10 days, you might have a progesterone issue.
Ditto what everyone has said already about charting.
As far as light periods, I've always had very light ones. 3-4 days long with at least one of them as light spotting. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a problem, so I started drinking pure pomegranate juice and drinking red raspberry leaf tea. Both are supposed to help thicken lining. I drink them from cd 1 until ovulation is confirmed. I'm not sure if it is actually doing anything, although the my first cycle drinking them I did get a bfp.
