It just really rubbed me the wrong way. I may be sensitive, but it kind of made me rethink whether or not I really wanted to drive an hour and a half for a date. But I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and think that he was just joking... but it wasn't funny, and I felt kind of offended. Anyone want to give me a second opinion? To much to type on my phone, but I can email it...

I'll look it over too. If you don't have my info let me know and I'll PM.
A called last night and we finally had the official "break up" conversation. He went into this whole explanation of how it's bad timing on both our parts and the fact we are both older and set in our ways. No dude, it's that I don't like you like that.
But...I didn't say that...I just mmm hmmm'd a lot.
At the end he says, "but we can still get together for drinks and crazy sex." I said, "sure drinks, yes...not the rest though". He mumbled about how he was just kidding. Dude, we both know you were only kidding unless I agreed to it. Then he'd be dead serious.
And that last interaction is the perfect indication that this guy doesn't know me at all and is exactly not right for me.

I don't think I have your email. Pm it to me, please!
A friend told me a few weeks ago that she was pretty much divorcing her husband. He's an alcoholic who has always treated her shitty. Today she told me she's pregnant. I'm not sure I hid my shock well.

I'm sure you've already gotten some good insight starrieskies, so I won't ask to see the email
In my experience, if a joke has to be justified as "its only a joke", it's not just a joke. I like to keep in mind that most jokes are funny because they are based on facts. Even if something is said "in a joking manor", there is always some truth behind it.

Dear lord. Well, I'm glad you recognized that it wasn't right and cut it off!

What in the hell??! Is she still going to divorce him?

I don't know. I asked her how things were going and she said "okay." She said that they're still going to couples counseling (they've gone twice) and she went to an individual counseling session. She said the counselor told her she has two choices 1. accept that this is who he is and stop trying to change him or 2. divorce him. I wanted to shake her and tell her to get a new counselor and that there are more than two options.
ETA: She's also a social worker...I'd hope she realizes this is crap advice, even though she didn't act like it is.

Exactly. You, me, and the rest of the earth's population know that he wasn't joking. He was fishing.
