I wasn't in pain from field hockey yesterday or today!!!
We did about an hour of conditioning, including sprints, jogging, stick work (that was funny for me as I'm a goalie) & strength work (pushups, situps and planks). I was quite pleased that I was one of very few who did full body pushups and who could plank for the length of time required (you had to plank while your partner was doing progressive springs). I survived the sprinting, though it was painful at the time. I credit this all to weight lifting and doing the 10-20-30 interval training as well as using my Zombies, Run! app.

I'm so, so tired. 50 mile week + busy/stressful week at work + DH is sick and snoring at night + my kid is going to Kindergarten on Monday and we're all anxious about it. I woke up this morning and I was very tempted to call in sick to work so I could have a day to relax a little. But I probably won't. I wish I could take a 3-month sabbatical or something.
I'm exhausted too. Rough rough day yesterday. I managed to get in a few miles after getting off at 7:30 last night so at least I'm still on track for the week. The good news is I should be one of the first out today. Nap time!
Random question: if you hit 2000 early, are you going to take the rest of the year off? I think I'd at least be very tempted to.
I'd like to lol but per my ortho and pt, it's better to ease out of this as to not shock my body. You can hurt your body by just stopping. Especially since I've been doing high mileage like this since June last year. So I'll cut back and then be back to normal running mileage for 2016 I'm on pace to finish ahead so it'll be nice to enjoy running thru the holidays. They say to not shock my body, cutting back a few miles a week til I hit the mileage I'd like to run next year will be better than stopping. I do plan to take the entire week I'm home visiting family off of everything. No running no teaching. That week should come a couple weeks after I finish so my doc said that break is fine as long as I ease out of it after I hit 2000 and ease back into it after I get back. But all along, doctors blessing or not, I had planned to take the week home for the holidays OFF. :-)
Also, this is weird, but I'm afraid to cut back. It's been such a part of me, I'm worried mentally how I'll do. Lol

I've been having a tough week- nothing major, just little minor annoyances that keep piling up.
This morning I was sure that things were going to be better. Walking out to my car, I didn't tighten the lid on my water bottle so half of it spilled out into my bag. As I was grabbing it, the lid popped off and the other half spilled right in my lap. I take a commuter train, so my mornings are down to the minute and I had no time to change. So, I had to ride in this morning with a wet crotch and a dripping bag.
I slept without Benadryl last night. It took me nearly two hours to fall asleep, but I did it.
ETA: I apparently have more to say. I'm losing weight I don't really want to lose. I knew this would happen when I stopped lifting errrryday, but now it's happening and I'm not thrilled. Doing pull-ups on the hoop Tuesday wasn't easy breezy as it usually is. I haz a sad.
Does anyone pay for the MVP version of MapMyRun? It taunts me every day. Is it worth it? What do you get by paying for it?
I've done something to my back. Either that or I'm experiencing kidney failure (brought to you by Google), but I feel like there might be more symptoms beyond flank pain, should that be the case.
I did my long run on Saturday and I was fine. I wasn't even that sore or tired. I woke up Sunday and my right side hurt, but I thought I just slept funny. It bothered me a bit when we were kayaking, but it didn't bother me at all on my run Sunday evening. That was the run that I jumped on DH's handle bars & I was definitely sitting a bit contorted, so maybe I tweaked it further? I rested Monday. Tuesday I had 7 miles on bridges & it keep tightening up. Sometimes the pain radiates out. I rested yesterday and I'm resting today, but then pain isn't lessening. Actually, it might be getting worse. Boooooooo!!! I currently reek of menthol, because I'm wearing an icy hot patch.

My 8.5 mile run was awesome today. Every mile was sub 10 minutes. I did this loop many times for Kiawah and never once even got close to an average of 10 minute miles due to hills. I'm having a great week running wise. Hopefully my 18 miles this weekend goes just as well. It should be an interesting run since I have a 10 mile race in the middle of my miles.
NonH&F inspection contingency on my house expires today at 5pm. I talked to the buyer's broker yesterday evening and she said she would get back to me last night, and once again I never heard from her. I'm getting really frustrated and annoyed.

Only flank pain? Bc I had kidney issues right out of college that was flank pain and other symptoms. My flank pain was a take your breath away, being stabbed from the inside....kind of pain.
Hopefully it was just your aerial skills to jump on the bicycle

Alright, I have more.
I went for a swim this morning, and to my amazement, it felt significantly better and easier than all of my previous swims. I was able to swim for pretty much the entire 30 minutes with only minor breaks. Now I'm bummed that my nice outdoor pool is closing in a week, but I'm thankful that I belong to a gym that has a (small) indoor pool where I can try to keep this up through the fall and winter.
I'm pretty sure I've caught the cold my kid and husband have. I've been sniffly this morning. Ugh. Time to start taking zinc.

I taught two spin classes in a row last night. I then ate the most amazing turkey burger from Carl's jr., slept like a rockstar for the first time in few days and woke up to a glorious rest day. AHHHHHHHH.
I also got my new glasses from zenni and they are perfect.

Basically. Sometimes when it's sharp, it radiates to my hip. The pain almost comes in spasm like waves. Other time it just feels achey. Only my right side. It's worse when I'm sitting, somewhat better when I am completely flat in bed. It's not any worse when I pee, and there are no other oddities in that sense that would make me think it's a kidney issue. It's just naturally the first thing that comes up when you Google flank pain. LOL Thanks internet!
It's also damn near impossible to be training for a marathon and not naturally have symptoms that align with terrible diseases. EX: Other symptoms of kidney issues are insomnia and puffy feet and ankles. I had both of those last week...but I'm also marathon training in 1,000 degrees. I always have a touch of insomnia (on and off) while training & with this heat and humidity, random puffiness (while not a common occurrence for me), does not seem that odd.
I'm sure I have just strained something that will continue to nag me and be super annoying.
H wanted to have a bbq this weekend for his staff. So, I sent an evite out, figured about half would come. Told them they are welcome to bring their SOs and kids. We have 31 people rsvpd. Not a single "no"

Gosh dang, I thought it would be like 8 ppl, lol.
For 31 people? Most definitely C. It just seems like it would make life easiest for you.
ETA: Now that I'm re-reading, I'm not sure why I feel that way. I guess they would all be fairly easy. LOL That's always a people pleasing menu for BBQs, though.

Yeah, I think it would all be relatively easy (though I'm not sure how I'll keep that many tortillas warm for a couple of hours), but I think C is probably what people are expecting, which could be just fine, or it means that I have set myself up to make something that seems impressive
i had a massage tuesday afternoon to focus mainly on my calves, hamstrings, butt & low back. It was slightly painful, but i felt much better afterwards. Then yesterday morning, as i was walking out of my house to the car, I slipped with my work bag/purse and fell right on my butt on the steps and today i have a sore booty. Luckily i didn't hit my head, break my computer, etc.

clseale Ugh. Sorry about your back. This happens to me once or twice a year. It is always on one side with the radiating pain. I blame heavy training (it usually is a day or two after a long run) and not being as young as I used to be The good news is I usually feel fine after a few days. If it lasts longer than that definitely get it checked out. I usually take one of DH's muscle relaxers or Rx dose ibuprofen, but self medicating is terrible advice
kams - I'll be the dissenting vote and vote for C. I like the idea cause it is different than your traditional barbeque food.
I'm sad that a project that I thought was officially dead is now coming back to life. Seriously, this thing needs to die. But if we are going to do it, just do it and move on. Don't torture me for another six months.

kams I like A or B, mostly because you can get it all put together, cooked in one fell swoop, and then let your guests pick on what is available. I feel like every time we do burgers/dogs/etc it's like one of us is constantly manning the grill and doesn't get to be with the rest of the party.
And I'm probably craving some omega 3s because holy crap does that salmon sound freaking amazing right now.
That's sort of what I'm thinking - I hate just standing by the grill for the whole party. It's even harder with the baby.
And yes, yum salmon!! It sounds really tasty to me and I rarely have an excuse to do a big filet of it.
ETA: and I would do the salmon in the oven, grill the veg before the party, and then only have to worry about the two big flank steaks left on the grill, and then just slice and plate. That does seem like the easiest. More prep, but easiest during the actual party.
