That's really scary and fucked up. Is there anyway to ban him from the campus? So even if security just sees him walking around the grounds they can arrest him? Or tell him to vacate the premises? (don't know if campus security can arrest people)
He emailed the department head that it was unfair and that he wants us to vote on the matter monday. He is seriously crazy. We have voted multiple times EVEN IN HIS PRESENCE that we wanted him fired.
yikes. So, did anyone in the department support him staying, or was it at least unanimous so that he doesn't have any particular targets? I would definitely get campus security involved to at least have a presence in the department.
I don't understand how he can't be fired or what the judge was thinking.
What is the reasoning for his second firing? What did he do now that might be a valid enough reason for a judge to support him gone?
Stay safe, Papie.
His contract ended in june, but was automatically renewed for one year because of the appeal process. Since his appeal was rejected, the university thought they had strong enough ground to terminate his contract.
Shit like this is what gives unions a bad rap. I didn't even see the OP, but it's clear from the thread that this guy needs to go, not be made un-fireable.
Doesn't plagiarism usually result in expulsion for students? But for a prof... tenure? How does this make any sense? I am sorry that you have deal with this whole crazy situation.
I read the OP earlier but couldn't reply then. This whole situation is insane. Your department chair, and preferably also a higher-up from the university, need to go to the union and make it crystal clear why this crazy will never, ever be given tenure, and why the union needs to stop asking before it embarrasses itself any further. omg. I don't understand why the university's lawyers aren't involved, given the circumstances.
