So many good thoughts headed your way. I have a cousin with congenital heart disease and he's had so many surgeries. He's in his 20s now and just had to have one of the most painful ones to date but he's doing well. Hoping your niece is up and at em in no time!

This is the same week my sister had open heart surgery at 4.5 at the hospital our grandmother used to work at, so this hits very close to home. I hope all goes well and that the operation and that her recovery is quick and smooth.
(For the record, my sister is now a happy and healthy 22 year old going into her last year at university as a double major on the Dean's list. Even with her scar, people are often surprised to find out she had heart surgery.)

Great update! They recover so fast at that age that she'll be up and at it in no time. (Within a week, my sister was saying she wanted to go to the park to play on the jungle gym, not caring that her ribs had just been pulled open.)
