We are going to be working with an slp/oral myologist to get Madison to quit sucking her thumb. It's a very positive program and she has a 100% success rate. When she heard andrew sucks his thumb too she encouraged me to get him to quit now by covering his hands at night to make them inaccessible. Nope. Not going to happen with my baby who self soothes and STTN. If her program is so great I'll see her again in 3-4 years for Andrew.
Interesting. Is there a reason you're going?
I guess my flameful is G still sucks her thumb and I have zero plans to get her to quit.
When she started as a baby, it was only when she was tired. It has morphed into her doing it when she's tired, watching TV, reading books, in the car and on and on. I sucked my thumb and when my parents tried to get me to quit, they were very negative about it and mean (and so were my brothers). It became a real battle and I don't want that for her. When I finally quit sucking my thumb, I started biting my thumbs (when anxious or bored) until they bleed. It's an awful thing.
The dentist who is helping me with Andrew's tongue tie issue recommended this lady. I would love for her to quit at a younger age where she isn't exposed to people who vilify her for doing it and when we can make it a positive and fun experience. Also, she does have a high and narrow palate so if we can get her to quit now, her mouth won't be as messed up.
It's a one month program and completely positive and reward based. If the SLP things Madison isn't ready or won't be successful after our first meeting, we will delay it until she is closer to 4. Honestly, I don't see her quitting on her own.
My name confession. I did change my name 'legally' after a short while but kept my maiden name professionally. It's actually been a huge PITA and I think I'm going to change it at work when I go back in January.
I was all confused about how long vthokie has been pregnant.
Now I'm confused
Your post about nausea during pregnancy was resurrected and I didn't realize it was old at first and was confused by you not wanting people to know you were pregnant yet.

Gotcha. I'm pretty sure everyone but my kid knows at this point. Oh, and my students. Except that I've been hiking up my maternity pants all day, so someone may have an idea
I have a weird PICA-ish thing. I don't want to eat weird things, but lately I've wanted a cigarette. I haven't smoked since before I was ttc Ansley. It's just totally out of the blue. I smell them outside and it's gross and revolting. But I still want one. I WON'T of course. I just find it odd.
We took A to an oral myologist early this year and she was amazing. He sucked 2 of his fingers a crazy amount (his nail fell off from the sucking) and she really gently explained why it was a bad idea and how he could stop.
We had one night of bad sleep and that was it. I would recommend her to anyone
How did she help him to stop? V is an avid finger sucker, although we've cut it down to only at home, in the car or during nap at school. I don't know how to make the next move. Any ideas?

I don't really have a desire to ever own a dog. DH wants to get the boys a dog when they are a bit older. I just don't get the love. It annoyed me to see so many dog pics on my newsfeed the other day. Sorry not sorry.
I'm having the highest sex drive of my life now, and I attribute it all to not being on any type of hormonal modification (birth control, pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.). I feel sorry for my younger self! Although the side effect of "possible pregnancy" was definitely worth it to avoid. I wish that sperm blocker injection was developed enough to use as birth control here.
jamaicam - did you need to use anything as an aversion or she just talkes to him? We are going to be putting mole skin on her thumbs for daytime and a sock for sleeping. We will be starting to see her week after next.
