I'm tossing around the idea of an anniversary trip with H. Nashville has been on our list for a couple of years. I've been to NOLA, but never as an adult. Nashville is about 8 hours, NOLA, 10 or 11. We would drive and go for a long weekend. (Probably leave Thursday afternoon, arrive late Thursday, spend Friday/Saturday, then return Sunday afternoon)
We would be looking around the first weekend in October. What say you, Probies?
That's a hard choice. I've never been to NOLA, but dream of going someday. DH has been many, many times and LOVES it there.
We used to go to Nashville often. If you love country music, downtown Nashville is so much fun! Walk around, eat good food, hear awesome bands, and see the sights.
Both sound like fun, but I'd lean more toward Nashville only because it is a shorter drive. Since it's just a long weekend, those extra few hours that it would take to/from Nola could make a difference.
Also, the 10 year anniversary of Katrina is in two days. NOLA still needs to be shown a lot of love and a good way to do that is supporting it via tourism, which is a MAJOR industry and job maker there.

Of course I'm a little biased, but NOLA gets my vote. I can give you beaucoup recommendations. That said... I absolutely love Nashville and can't wait to go back there.
Okay but really, everyone I talk to from Nashville loves NOLA so I think you won't go wrong with either. I would love to visit there one day and I feel like there might be more to do there?
I've never been to Nashville. We went to NOLA a couple years ago in October, and it was so much fun. The weather was perfect, and there weren't tons of tourists. We're not big shoppers, but we had the best time shopping on Magazine St because the stores all plied us with free booze and were very reasonably priced.

I'm not trying to dissuade you, but I won't be here the first weekend and there is a Saints v. Cowboys game that Sunday night so hotels and everything else may be more crowded and expensive.

I forgot about football. DSs bye week is the second weekend in October, so we'd have to push back to then. Like Thursday the 8th - Sunday the 11th.

You should show him the poll results! What's his favorite thing to do - music, food, history? Maybe I can come up with something to help you persuade him. FYI my favorite hotel in both cities is the Loews.
