I looked at a bunch of those, but they're so expensive. Costco has great backpacks for $20 this time of year. Then I still had $100 extra dollars to do something with.
Jujubee makes one. I haven't tried it but love the "be prepared" bag I have from them.
Eta - I know their BFF bag can be converted into a backpack too.
I loved their BFF bag, especially as a backpack because it was wide enough for me to reach the side pockets for sippy cups/keys, etc., without having to take the entire thing off. I also love that it's machine-washable. The other bag, Be Right Back, is great. Well, at least the original version was. I haven't tried the new one, but I think it's lighter and more streamlined.
(I'm obviously a big Ju-Ju-Be fan. They were a client of mine for a while, but that was after I was already a huge fan.)
I have this one: www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19483066&cp=&parentPage=search and love it. I got it for my husband to use and got a skip hop duo for myself, but abandoned that one early on and we both use this one. I like the number of pockets it has, seems to be pretty easy to keep organized.
I've used DD's PBK backpack before and it is awesome. Super light weight and there are good pockets on the side and front. It also holds her lunchbox nicely which is good as she's gotten older and we bring more food for our outings.

I'm debating getting the BFF since my current bag has holes and I love the be prepared (but it's too big for daily use even with 2 kids).
I have a Graco one I bought deeply discounted through Zulily. I have no idea how much it retails for, but it is perfect. Things seemed to keep fitting in it when I used it as a carry on for our recent trip to Paris- an iPad for DD, snacks for both kids, water bottles for all three of us, changes of clothing for me and DS, diapers, wipes, bibs, my phone, glasses and wallet, some small board books...
It's a great day bag, too. I use it for most of our day-long outings and rarely use my Skip hop bag anymore.

I really liked my Ju Ju Be BFF. I also have a Petunia Picklebottom backpack style. They're both really good with slightly different features that I have appreciated sry different times.
