Another idea is After Perfect by Christina McDowell, which is pretty good. She's the daughter of a man who was somewhat involved in all that Jordan Belfort stuff (the Wolf of Wall St guy) who was arrested and sent to prison for a number of years. The book describes how his arrest shattered all of her illusions, broke her her family apart, destroyed her dreams for the future and then how she slowly rebuilt herself by swearing off the false gods of money and materialism. It's pretty interesting and well written.
