It is reasonable for solid wood furniture that will last forever. I have some custom pieces from a local guy, and there is no comparing the quality to anything you buy in the store.

That sounds reasonable. We briefly looked at hand made solid wood furniture made in the U.S. and prices were comparable.

I think the total for our 2 IKEA dressers and matching (simple) nightstands was ~$650 (can't remember exactly), so for approximately the same complexity (# of drawers) but custom made with hardwood those prices sound reasonable to me.

Those prices sound reasonable for solid wood. We just bought a complete bedroom set from RH and it was $8000. 2 night stands, 2 dressers (1 high, 1 low) and a storage bed, king. All solid wood (it's actually being delivered/assembled as I type! WHEE!)--it's reclaimed pine. Forever furniture as well.

Those prices, being custom made, are good.

I see a lot of custom millwork pricing and that seems reasonable.
