If you did the 3 day potty training method, did you wait until the perfect time where they were super interested in the potty? DS waxes and wanes with his interest in the potty. Some days he is all for it, others he is vehemently against it. He will not poop in the potty but he will tell me he is going to poop and will throw a huge fit if I encourage trying to use the potty instead of his diaper.
I want to do the 3 day thing but am scared to manage the first day by myself with DH at work and me home with DS (who will be 3 in December) and my 2 month old DD and having to manage all the accidents/potty trips. I was thinking of trying it when my FIL is here in mid september so he can help with one or both of them and then DH will help on the weekend. But I'm worried he's not "interested" enough to try it.
Also, did you send your kid to daycare after the 3 days or keep them home another day or so to make sure it was a little more routine for them?
Potty training is so far my least favorite parenting job.

I did not wait until my DD was super interested. We first got her a potty and she was super excited about it but that lasted a week and then she started to refuse to sit on the potty. I put away the potty for about two weeks. A day or two before we tried the 3 day method I let her watch the Daniel Tiger episode a few times.
On day one as soon as she woke up I took off her diaper. She started to have accidents an hour later. During the morning it was a bit frustrating because it didn't feel like she was making the connection that she had to go to the potty or at least try to walk over to the potty. So after nap time, I bribed her with m&ms. If she made it in time I would give 2 for poop and 1 for pee. The first time she kinda made it in time I also gave her a M&M and did a little dance. By day two she was pretty much making it to the potty 100% of the time. After a week I weaned her off M&Ms for pee and about a month later for poop.
I would wait until your FIL was there to help you with the baby.
My older two were interested, but DD2 wasn't. She was over 3 though, and it was time. It took a little longer for her (5days), but it was still worth it. I didn't have help, and it was fine. My older two are grade school though. With my younger ones we all 3 (me, DS, DD) hung out around the house/bathroom. I vaguely remember nursing DS on the bathroom floor while DD was going potty. My kids were in half day preschool and I sent them as usual.

I did not do 3 day, I did the Oh Crap book. It worked in the first day. Anyway, for a week or so leading up, you say "I'm going to teach you how to use the potty, no more diapers!"
The first morning, DS was whining and did not want to do it. Then he drank half a can of Sprite and had to, lol. He did it, and it clicked. At lunch, he pooped on the potty.

And since I'm unemployed, I kept DS home for a week. We did run small errands. He was potty trained by the end of the weekend though, so the extra time was not needed.

Then pull ups for a week, followed by underwear.
They 3 day potty training method says to not use pullups or diapers whatsoever - did you have any issues with the pullups at all?
and how did everyone handle nighttime? DS still wakes up SOAKED and probably 50% of the time has pooped overnight. ugh. He wouldn't be able to get out of his room to the bathroom anyways if he had to go as he can't open his door. I don't feel comfortable leaving his door open yet as he sleeps on our main floor and we are upstairs with DD.

DS was naked day 1. It helped especially early on, to notice when he was dribbling out pee but wouldn't sit. Day 2+, he wore shorts with no underwear. I put him in a pull up when we left the house, explaining that those are special learning underwear.
He remained in diaper for naps and overnight. The author says to tell them that it's hard to remember to potty while you're asleep, so diapers are ok. He is dry during naps and most overnights, but I don't think I will drop them for awhile.
When we switched to pull ups, he was able to treat them like underwear.
