Out of these hotels, which would you pick?
Bally's, Paris, Planet Hollywood, The Linq, Caesar's
We are hoping to go for 5 nights in April. I really want to stay somewhere new (I have stayed at MGM and The Flamingo before), but I don't want anything super pricey. I am looking on Travelocity and trying to keep it to under $600 total per person including flights. (Caesar's is *just* under that at 598 as of right now).
My only real requirement is something on The Strip that's pretty centrally-located. I would love to have a nice pool at the hotel in case the weather is nice enough for a pool day. But having a super fancy room/Strip view/swanky hotel is not a top priority since two days will be spent outside of Vegas anyway doing day trips, and we probably won't be in the room much.

I'm staying at the Elara in a few weeks and its right behind the planet Hollywood. It's nice for longer stays because some of the rooms have Kitchens. It's also connected to the miracle mile shops. It doesn't have a casino but it might be 5 min walk through the mall to Planet Hollywoods.
We stayed at the Linq. I would probably not stay there again. The rooms were fine- nice and renovated. The lobby smelled like they are funneling potpourri in the vent system. Tiny tiny pool. I am 30+ years old and by far most people were college aged (especially on the weekend). The pool was the opposite of relaxing- it was like MTV's Spring Break! However- the restaurants were nice. If you want the Flamingo location, I would go with Caesar's. I had family staying there and only heard good things.
PH lobby looked newer and renovated but I'm not sure about the rooms. Paris was a little blah. But at least we could get drinks when we were there.
Edit: book through the hotel and get a Total Rewards number to get the best deal.

I stayed at Paris because I got an awesome deal with my total rewards. It wasn't the best but for the price I was really happy with it. Also, I really liked the pool because it was big and super laid back. My BFF and I would drink too many beers, swim, then nap in the shade of the Eiffel Tower. LOL

I would stay away from Linq too. It's the old IP which smelled like the bottom of a commercial ashtray before the renovation;pretty sure the rooms haven't been renovated so the smell is still there. I'm a former smoker and I can smell it so it's bad, normally I can't.

Thanks everyone! I think my top two will be Caesar's and PH. They both look really nice when I have been in their lobbies but I have never been in their rooms. The free parking thing is good to know because we are renting a car for two days of the trip, and I was worried about $50+/night parking fees like in downtown Chicago.
The resort fee is a good reminder, too. I will have to calculate that in. I will also check out that Best Western. I didn't even realize they had one on the Strip!
Bally's or Paris-they're actually connected. Last time I went to Vegas (me and my mom) we stayed at bally's and it was great and rooms were reasonable.
I'm staying at the Paris in a couple weeks for a business conference. I'm glad to get the feedback on the hotel so I don't get my hopes up too much. lol

We just got back from Vegas about two weeks ago. We had comped rooms at Ballys and Paris. We stayed in the jubilee tower at Ballys, which is newly renovated. The room was huge and we thought it was nice. At Paris we stayed in the red room--which was just ok. I would have preferred to just stay at Ballys for the duration of our trip.
I don't know if this is your thing, but our nights were spent at a little dive casino called Ellis Island. They have karaoke every night after 9 pm to 3 am or something like that. There were some really good singers and you drink for free if you are playing video poker at the bar. The restaurant inside Ellis Island has steak and eggs for $ 6.99 and a sirloin steak dinner for $ 9.99. Cheap drunk eats .
I was a little hesitant to stay at Ballys, but I would stay there again.
