Hello! I am a long-time lurker so I hope you don't mind me posting. I am struggling, trying to figure out which light to get for over my kitchen table. I'll post some pictures of the room and then reply with some other options since I can only attach 3 pics at a time. I'm open to other suggestions as well! The one light on this email will be "a" Thanks!

I vote for A. I have something similar to E over my kitchen sink. I love it, but I think it's too small for your space. B looks more appropriate for a foyer or porch. Not a fan of C or D.

Hmm. I like 1 best, but agree it may not work well in your space. What about this one from CB2. Similar feel but would look better over a rectangle table.
I don't care for A. It seems too modern and your space looks more traditional to me. I think it would stick out and look unintentional.
B and D are pretty similar and I think they are classic and would good with your classic dining chairs and classic black and white kitchen. There is a nice farmhouse vibe there. That soft green color is one of my favorites if you were able to use it around the rest of the space.
I can't decide if C would look more traditional or more geometric in this space. I think I'd have to see it.
E is the safest choice. It is pretty and traditional.
thank you all for your thoughtful responses! It's so hard to make a decision! It seems like b or e are the most popular. I also saw this one today, which is a bit less modern than a but still offers more transparency.

I'm going to be irritating, and say that given that you seem to have no other lighting than recessed lighting, I would go a little more "focus area" with this fixture. That said, I don't think the long-and-dangling look is right for the space, and the single-pendant style ones also might end up looking a little sad -- like, just a small fixture in an island of ceiling space. I would go for something more long and wide, like:
Since you seem to like more modern-y stuff but your house looks more traditional I went for "Industrial," but of course you could go more or less traditional.
If you did want to do a single pendant I would make it more big and elaborate if possible, like this:
I do worry that the light I pick will look too small because there's nothing worse than buyer's remorse! I'll have to think about the last light from Dr Girlfriend because I do like that one. As of last week this room was totally different so Im just starting to put things together. There used to be a round white table in the middle of the room and then the black table in front of the fireplace. No need for TWO tables. Our main living room is in the adjacent room, which is also the primary playroom for my kids. Here is a pic of the couch area in the kitchen. I am not a fan of the rug and plan on getting a jute one to replace it.
