I got to see instant justice today

H and I were on our way to a movie this afternoon, driving on the highway, at the speed limit (definitely know this for a fact, because there was a cop in the next lane over, so no speeding). We were passing an onramp. The man getting onto the highway from the onramp must have thought we were moving too slowly, so instead of merging over when he reached the end of the ramp, he sped through the shoulder to get past us and then got in front of us, missing the front of our car by just a few feet.

What the guy didn't see before he did that, was the police car that was on the other side and slightly ahead of us. The cops lights were on in seconds, and both cars were back on the shoulder before we even passed them.

Ah, sometimes things do work out.

We saw someone today, hauling a long trailer full of kayaks who thought he'd turn around on the interstate using the emergency vehicle crossover. It was wooded, so he didn't see the trooper sitting in his car in the crossover until it was too late.

This is a dream scenario. I can't fucking stand drivers like that. Can't stand.

We were driving south out of my home town. H was driving just over the limit. Northbound state patrol u-turned and pulled us and the car behind us over. We actually weren't sure if he wanted us or the guy ahead of us that he did't stop.

He came to the window and got registration etc and asked us why we were driving over the limit. H said he was trying to get space between us and the guy behind us. He asked how long the guy had been following us too close and H said since the edge of town.

Patrolman goes back and talks to the car behind us and comes back. He hands H his license, registration and says you're free to go and proceeded to tell us that he asked the guy behind us why he was following us so closely. The guy said it was because we were driving too slow and he was trying to pass us. WRONG ANSWER! We were speeding so telling the officer we were going too slow was not the right thing to say. That guy got cited, we got let go.

H cackled, actually cackled in joy. There is NEVER a cop around when things like this happened. We've been laughing about it all night.

A couple weeks ago a guy sped past the car behind me then tailgated me ridiculously close until he could speed by me. About a mile up the road he was pulled over and I was like,
