I'm sure you have all been waiting on the edge of your seats to see if I got H anything for his birthday. I ended up using the strategy "walk circles around REI and two local outdoor stores until something triggers your memory" and it worked (I remembered a couple of things he had asked for and he was happy).
That's next!!! The thought of me being audited for such makes me want to pass out. I am still shaking in my boots because we are 1099 and W2 this person in the same year.
I just finished auditing somebody's payroll. Full circle!
See now? These manager stay trying to get me got!!
Michelle let me tell you what I don't need on a Monday morning I am doing payroll. Managers trying to bully me into mis-classifying their employees as Exempt. Are these people brand new? Do they not know me?
LOL!!
Are you guys having to change very many from exempt to non-exempt under the new FLSA rules? That has been fun to manage too!
I wish I could tell you what I had to put my move (into my new house) activity aside for to deal with yesterday, but it's too sensitive, even for PM. It's gonna be a crazy week!

We haven't , this guy is a new hire. Oh yeah when you change folks from Exempt to Non-Exempt they get all up in their feelings. The Manager had the nerve to send me something from the FLSA and Highlight shit, I replied with 10 Court cases addressing this particular position. I am NOT THE ONE.
Vent -our move into our new house on Friday was horrible.
The movers that were sent over all seemed like a trio of ex-cons. They were at best 5'8 to 5'10 and not really strong. I told the company that while we didn't have a lot of furniture, we had HEAVY solid wood furniture. They were not strong enough to handle it and pushed a couch through our front door glass, scratched much of our furniture up to hell, and took twice as long as it should have. It was horrible. But they mentioned repeatedly that they had had previous run ins with the law, were on the straight and narrow now, each one had a sobriety story. It was so bad that I'm AFRAID to do a yelp or thumbtack review for the company. Because they know where we live.
Oh and also one repeatedly asked questions about our daughter. How old was she? What grade was she in? What kind of hobbies does she like? OMG it was really uncomfortable. I had my husband leave to pick her up from daycare and take her somewhere else for a while so they would never lay eyes on her. (In my opinion she's really pretty and a desirable target for a pedophile). I just told Joel that we need to get our alarm installed ASAP and I went through emergency measures with DD like how to get to the safe room a number of different ways if there were intruders, to never talk about the safe room with friends, etc. It's not technically a "safe room" but is a "hidden room." But I'm putting our home phone charger in there and having DH install a few locks so that if she needs to get in there she can do so safely. And we will have an alarm keypad in there as well.
Not a great way to move into a new home.
And also the shit hit the fan with something at work so Sunday I was working all day instead of unpacking so I didn't know where much was to get ready this morning.

The guys who sit next to me have been discussing fantasy football for the past 45 min. Except they occasionally switch into real football talk. Shut up shut up shut up!!
I'm going to get a gym membership today so I can start swimming again. Wheee. But that means my social anxiety will be a little more ramped up if the pool is super busy and I have to interact with people, at least until I get used to the new place.

P3: Does Ted Cruz have Greyscale, or is that just what his face looks like?

We spent all weekend at my MIL's lakehouse and coming to work today suuuuucks. Its supposed to be in the mid to upper 80s all week and next weekend and I am so excited. After being rainy and in the 50s last week, I am looking forward to one last great week of summer. We are going to the lake next weekend too. Yay!
A bit of an @ here, but I am so irritated with BIL and exSIL right now. Their daughter has a birthday today, divorce is not going smoothly. BIL has custody today, and allowed daughter to FB time with her aunt K (Ex SIL's sister). BIL refused to allow exSIL to FB time with her own daughter on the birthday. BIL just texted my DH and told us to change our FB settings so aunt K can no longer see our FBs, because exSIL is using aunt K's account to see what is going on with the kids. Then aunt K starts texting me asking for photos of daughter because exSIL is now quite upset.
Is it that hard to grow up for 15 minutes on your daughter's birthday, let the other parent spend a little of virtual time with her, and not involve the entire bloody family over your drama?!?

I'm sorry for that little girl. It sucks to be in that position. Been there. Have the tear stained t-shirt.

Oh, and I'm going to brag because I'm finally caught up on the Walking Dead, and H and I watched the first Fear the Walking Dead episode. We've been behind for like two years, and we're finally all caught up. No more avoiding spoilers!!
I wish my husband would listen to me. When the pine tree came down in front of our house I said, "We're going to have to stump it out." He said, "No the tree guy said that we can just cover it with xeriscaping and it doesn't need stumped." I said, "I don't think that's correct, but since he doesn't want to do it if it needs done we'll get someone else." DH said, "We don't need to do it."
This morning our landscape guy said, "You're going to have to stump out the tree." DH said, "Ok."
::face palm::
I keep thinking he's going to get tired of saying, "You were right" but that time never comes.

On my drive to work this morning, my driver-side mirror fell off my car as I was driving on the highway. Just the actual mirror, not the whole case. But WTF?
I was greeted by a passive aggressive sign "Door Broken...AGAIN" on the front door of the building with the Handicap auto-open button. It made me chuckle. And I was the first person in today--which is a sign of the end of all things. I'm worried.
Crazy coworker is at it again too today. She is one of several vegetarians in our office, but the only one who makes a huge fuss about it and has insisted/controlled on where we go in the past so she is happy with her food choices. We're doing a staff retreat in 2wks at a very nice resort; lunch first, then meeting afterwards. I had to pick 3 items off the lunch menu; and they added in a veggie wrap for the vegetarians (the only other option was a salad where they took off the chicken). The other menu/setting has a grilled cheese, but they wouldn't change that over/let us have 4 choices; and if we went for the menu with the grilled cheese option we'd have just one sandwich served to everyone; so everyone would have grilled cheese whether they liked it or not.
I announced the plans last Friday, and gave the menu options. Naturally, crazy co-worker responds that she doesn't like veggie wraps, and don't they have a grilled cheese? I explain that I tried, but the veggie wrap will be the only vegetarian option due to the menu limitations/guidelines at the resort. She replied that she will just pack and bring her own lunch because she "truly detests" veggie wraps. I can't wait to see the look on everyone's faces when she sits at the dining table pulling out her bag lunch.

I need a Monday do-over.
We had that happen on one of our cars; you can order replacements online via Amazon far cheaper than a dealer.

That’s what FI had me do. I chose 1 business day shipping, so hopefully it gets here tomorrow. At least I can work from home until it's fixed.
A friend posted a T&P request to her wall for her friend who has breast cancer and is stopping treatment.
A mutual freind posted this in response:
I don't know one thing about her staging or situation, but look at breast cancer protocols for therapeutic grade essential oils. The baby Jesus was given Frankincense and Myrrh for a reason.

I'd be tempted to pm said friend and explain why that is so insensitive.
Also I'm going to punch MH if he asks me one more time what we're doing with the dog whrn we go to the beach in 2 weeks. I DONT KNOW. How about you come up with something for once? his brother used to watch him for us but he moved away last month. A full week at the kennel is going to practically double the cost of this trip.

And here I thought it was because those two were just cheap dudes.
