I'm back in the ER. 2nd time in a week. I have now had 4 "worst headaches of my life" in 10 days.
In the midst of a 15-hour headache. I had no idea you could even have a headache that long. I did not sleep for one minute last night. My doctor couldn't control for pain and frankly is so concerned that she wants more imaging.
I had a CT and a lumbar puncture last time and they were clear. I think they want to do an MRI now. Starting to freak out about brain tumors. Trying to decide if I wned someone to come sit with me. I have already imposed so Much on people.
Ugh I am so sorry. Don't hesitate to reach out to those closest to you. It's a cheesy song, but it's true -- they'll need someone to lean on at some point, and I'm sure you are always there for others.

I am so sorry, Toepick. Please do not hesitate to call a friend to be with you. I hope you feel better soon and, more importantly, that they find out what's causing the headaches.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but have they checked for meningitis? My coworker got it last summer and it went undiagnosed despite multi-hospital visits. What you're describing sounds like her experience.

I am not sure of your medical history, but before DH was diagnosed with Lyme he has horrible headaches and he ended up in the ER a handful of times. They did a CT, Lumbar puncture and MRI. The only thing that showed up was white spots on his MRI.
I'm so sorry. Please call someone to be with you. If it helps, I have horrible migraines and what my neurologist calls a "textbook perfect" brain, structurally (I had an MRI/MRA) so I hope your brain is also perfect.
They don't always if they are only looking for meningitis. I have idiopathic intracranial hypertension ie. too much spinal fluid.
Symptoms to look for: 1. ICP over 20 with Lumbar Puncture 2. Worst headache ever 3. Blurry vision 4. Swooshy noises in your ears 5. Nausea
I hope it is a quick fix and you feel better soon!
I have this too and it was my first thought to ask about the opening pressure on the LP! Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. The other possibility is that you have a spinal headache from the LP.
Hang in there! Fwiw - i never had headaches prior to my brain tumor discovery. Just a random seizure. Which from what I was told is usually the most common symptom that leads to discovery. I know it's hard to not think of worst case scenarios.
I hope they figure it out soon and it's an easy fix. While we are "here" to support you, please call someone to sit with you and walk you through it so you're not at the hospital alone. They will want to be there. Trust.

STOP! If you have a good support system, they will not think you have imposed too much on them. They want to help. Do not make decisions for them. Ask them to be with you. If they are good people, they will come hang out with you.
I really do hope you get relief. Do not hesitate to ask for help.
