So do I still get to call myself normal if my dad was single but not from divorce? Confuzzled.
I think a single mom should be damn proud for, not just raising a president, but instilling in him what appears to be a general level of compassion. Hell, I'd expect that "rape is rape" to be cribbed from discussions at dinner. If H's family is anything to go by, it was his single mom that taught him to be the feminist he is today.
I used to walk around with a banana clip over my eyes to pretend I was him. Never wanted to be Jean Luc.
that's the only thing banana clips were good for. lol
I wanted to be Deanna so I could score with Riker.
I can't be the only one who had a thing for Wesley. Now, though, I can see as an adult how much of a wet blanket he was. I didn't even like his rebellion!
leaving aside the racism issue, i'm just amused that "guns" is at least two steps more important than "integrity" and four more than "common sense." i'd like anyone with a gun to first have both.
The gun thing really struck me too. I should be a pretty good fit for this ignoramus's version of "normal". White, from a stable Catholic family, parents still together, small town, yadda yadda yadda. But guns were never a part of our household and since she mentions them more than once, I guess one cannot be normal without them!
Anyway, I'd agree there's a good dose of racism here, but honestly it's not just racism. It's disdain for anything that differs from her life experience. She's the type who worships mediocrity, believing that anyone who does too well is just showing off. Totally conformist and conventional, and to the extent she thinks about African Americans at all, she wonders why they can't just be more like her?!

Nope, just you. Adolescent mesha thought he was a whiner. My sister did have a crush on his mama, though.
I love Wil Wheaton so much more now that I associate him with Eureka instead of Wesley Crusher.
