Daycare was able to get her to eat a bit more with one of the bottles we tried today. But since she's been home, she's been constantly spitting up( which she hasn't done for a month or so). And when I nursed her a few minutes ago, it all came back up within two minutes. I hadnt even buckled my nursing tank back up yet before she soaked me. She's acting tired but otherwise fine. No fever. Would you assume it's from bottle feeding or that she picked up a bug or something her first day at daycare?
When is dehydration a concern with a breast feeder?

Thanks. I thought we might have finished it but she just spit up more yellow bile. There's nothing left in there and she's dry heaving. Some kind of bug I guess.
I hate this. I have to go two hours away for work tomorrow and I've only been back at work a week so H will stay home with her. I'm going to be stressed all day if she can't keep something down tonight

If she doesn't keep something down tonight take her in ASAP. Little ones that small can get dehydrated fast.

Yeah. I think her soft spot is getting indented and I know that's a sign. I'm going to try to nurse her one more time and call the nurse line of it comes back up

She threw it all back up within minutes of nursing and then dry heaved some more. We're waiting on the triage nurse to call us back. I feel so helpless and ill equipped. E never had any illness as a baby baby.

If she's dry heaving, this is definitely not just spit up, and I'd probably take her in.

We are supposed to give her medicine droppers of pedialyte every 15 minutes (MH Is getting it now). If she hasn't kept that down or had a wet diaper by midnight we are headed to the ER
H just texted me that the clerk at Walgreens said they've sold a lot of pedialyte today so something must be making the rounds
My baby had a similar bug a month ago when he was around 8 weeks old, it was so sad He would eat and immediately projectile vomit it all up. Everywhere. Our dr also told us to give him very small amounts of Pedialyte frequently. It seemed to keep him properly hydrated and thankfully he never really even seemed too upset about being sick. I hope yours is better quickly!
That's good to hear. One dose of pedialyte has stayed down so fingers crossed
What you're describing reminded me of my nephew when he was that age. My SIL would nurse him and it would come right back up. He was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis. It's more severe than normal reflux and it usually occurs 4-6 weeks after birth. It mostly occurs with boys, but girls are also diagnosed with it. If it doesn't seem like she stops spitting up in a day or two, I would ask your pediatrician about it. My nephew had to have surgery to correct it, and he did great. He will be 3 on 11-1. Good luck and I hope she gets well soon!
I hope she continues to keep the Pedialyte down. When DS2 had a stomach but when he was tiny, they said I could also syringe feed breastmilk. Another school of thought is to just keep nursing through it, knowing that SOMETHING is staying down, even if it's just 1% of it. I prefer to give the tummy a rest with the syringe and breastmilk or Pedialyte, but if baby wants to nurse, know that some of it is staying down, even if it doesn't feel like it!

I had this. If she's spitting up and not projectile vomiting, don't even put this on your radar.
Do what you're doing with the pedialyte. Does she seem to have a cold? Is she super mucusy?
Good thoughts! I hope she takes the pedialyte -- it really helped ds when he went through something similar. It took a few days till he could keep down milk (which ended up being fine because I got it too and wasn't producing much -- don't forget to keep on top of hand washing etc so you guys hopefully don't get it!)

Mine puked *totally silently*, without so much as turning his head or making a peep. He toughed it out much more gracefully than I did. Lol

My nephew wasn't really projectile vomiting either. But she would nurse him and then when he finished she would turn him upright to burp him it would all come back up. That's the only reason I brought it up. I hope her baby is just sick(not that's it's good, but better than the other option) and she doesn't have it, but if it's not clearing up, it's good to know what else it could possibly be.

Ugg. Looooooong night. We had 2 hours worth of pedialyte droppers every ten minutes in her and tried to nurse again and it all came back up, so we had to start over. She wasn't really having wet diapers and her soft spot was pretty sunken, but she never got cotton mouth (which is when they said we needed to get her in right away) so we just kept going. She passed out around 1:30 so we got a few hours of sleep.
I was able to nurse her for 3 minutes at 6:30 and again at 7:15 and 8:00. She hasn't thrown it up, but she did have a diarrhea blowout, so we'll see.
My mom was going to come stay with her, but when I called my boss to tell her I would be a bit late getting into work (I work remotely most of the week but drive 2 hours to the home office on Wednesdays), she told me it would be dumb to drive that far this exhausted and I should just work from home and keep nursing. So, my boss is awesome but I have the guilts since I'm only actually in the office one day a week, and they have worked with me so much already letting me keep my job when we moved.

I'm glad to hear that she sounds like she is on the mend, and that your boss is awesome. I hope she continues to feel better. Hugs to you guys.
I am so glad your boss is awesome! And I am going to be a hypocrite and tell you not to feel guilty. Even though I have the same feelings when I have to miss repeatedly for baby stuff.
I think I mentioned before, but it took us a solid 2-3 days before DS would hold down anything but pedialyte, so try not to let that worry you that she got sick again (easier said than done, of course). When I got the bug the next day and the thought of eating anything made my stomach flip-flop, it was actually a nice reminder -- that not eating real meals for a couple of days in the course of sickness is normal and not cause for alarm on its own.
