I keep coming back to this and just looking at the title. It feels so unreal. My dad has cancer. I just really started talking to him again a few months ago, just saw him again in July. Right now and for the last couple of years, with several family members, there's always been a possibility of something going bad, but everything's been okay. I haven't really come to grips with the idea that one of these times, it's not going to be okay.

I'm so sorry, big hugs. It's such a hard thing to hear. My step dad had the same and is now cancer free, his smoking had also been a contributing factor and the one good was that it was the wake up call he needed to quit. I will keep your dad in my T&Ps.

Thanks, everyone. I haven't had it on my mind all day, which is good, but when it does come to mind, it's like hearing about it again, just another shock to the system.
