Which look do you prefer for our great room? I wanted swag but was worried about blocking too much of the view so the seamstress suggested regular. She made these sketches
I like the 2nd option with them straight. I feel your upper windows accomplish the pulled back feel with their shape so the pulled back lower ones look odd to me, if that makes any sense.
I have drawn back currently in my LR with a similar arrangement. I'll be replacing them with straight panels sometime this winter when I switch them out. I like to mix things up. TBH, you could have them made as 4 panels and tie them back later assuming they are full enough to hide the break between the panels and have the option to do both.
I wouldn't worry about light given that you have the 3 windows above.

Maybe neither? I prefer the current "high and wide" trend. #2 is close but not quite there.
The rod in #2 looks like it is hung as high as possible but not as wide as it could be. It looks like the curtain rods could extend another 6 inches inches or so to the corner so the curtains would hang straight down against the wall beside the window and only cover the window trim.

I like the idea because I actually like both styles. The first one I feel goes well with the windows but I also like the more casual style of #2.
