OMG WHY AM I JUST NOW LEARNING ABOUT SUNBUTTER!!!!
Because that shit is expensive. A friend asked me to send her a few nutbutters, and I balked at the crazy price. I think sunbutter was over $10.
major, speculoos is basically biscoff in spreadable form. I'd actually never heard of it until a few months ago when we were in Paris, and there was speculoos ice cream. H was in heaven. I should probably make some for him, but I doubt I can find speculoos anywhere on the island.
I am just going back to work in September and I was super nervous what kind of guidelines would be sent home for lunches. Luckily, the daycare we chose feeds them lunch plus two snacks and even breakfast if we pay extra. I am safe from this cute lunch hell until K (daycare goes until Pre-K, phew).
FTR, the daycare lunch menu also excludes peanut products as a general precaution.
Lastly, I <3 Speculoos. Have you guys tried the Trader Joe's chocolate bar named that? Nom nom nom.
Dear god, it's the devil. They sell it by the jar, too, but I am terrified to buy it and have it in the house. I don't even know what it is, but it's like, rich, smooth, creamy cookie dough mixed with some kind of nut butter? ***drooling***
I would have to give my kids up if I had to abide by all these rules and shit.
It makes me sad to think of them not with me but fuck it all if I am spreading nut substitute on a card board applique of wheat bread and calling it lunch.

Where on earth are you paying over $10?
I pay $5 and change at Whole Foods, Target, or Amazon.com. It's not cheap, but it's doable.
Hawaii. I've never actually paid for it, but that's the cost here. Food is insanely expensive in general. Eggs are $4. Half gallon milk (not organic) $5.50. Pound of spinach $8. So, does that make sense in those parameters?
I think there were some that we looked at that were upwards of $16. I just assumed that if it was double the price of peanut butter here it would be double elsewhere, regardless the actual cost.

One time my husband came home from a particularly bad day at work and said, "I'm quitting and we're moving to Hawaii!"
I said, "Do you have a clue as to what food costs there? We'll starve in a week!"

Maybe they're just bitchy but my kids' school is totally anti anti-peanut. At new parent orientation, they're very clear that the school is not peanut free. I kinda like it, but my kids don't have food allergies.
Development :-) I am super excited to start a new career. Not so excited about the lowly wage. Ah well. At least I can actually have regular hours now. Woot!

I saw it in jar form and had to run away ASAP. I'm fat enough, no need to make it worse with that stuff. It tastes like cookie dough heaven, for realz.
