I have to admit that I'm not sad that Serena lost. I also am thrilled for the re-emergence of Martina Hingis. I had no idea that she was even back in competitive play after her unfortunate negative drug test result years ago.
It's interesting that Flavia won, then promptly retired. There's something to be said for the favorites not winning every single time. What a great story.

Hingis is playing well. She was always crafty. Note to tennis players - don't date golfers!
I was happy to see Flavia or Roberta win. Flavia made a great story. But that was a crappy final match. I watch tennis as much for the players as I do for competitiveness. This was not an entertaining match. It was like watching the two best friends at a club final.
Man, I don't have a pick, but I'm going to say go, Roger!
