I'm weighing the decision of moving offices to get away from mice and repetitive flooding with sewage. The alternative has a permanent funk though and I'd have to pass through airport style security with my stuff everyday. I'm torn.

Both options are objectionable. I'm sorry.
The sewage thing seems like a health hazard. Why isn't that getting fixed?

It's something different breaking each time supposedly. But they never clean it well.
It was hilarious because she is Exhibit A of what the article describes as the problem with America today. She posts about 5-7 extremist oversimplified inflammatory far right wing memes a day and follows "populist rabble-rousers peddling magic-bullets that can't work," so much that she is even pro-Trump.

I've gotten 41 emails since I got back from lunch 2 hours ago. That's not counting stuff that's auto filtered.
Also on my people I'm jealous of list are all of you with fall. It's currently 99 degrees. Those boots I bought last week I haven't even been able to look at.
we are dogsitting for the next ten days and this dog is huge. now i know i will never want a big dog. he is sweet as hell though. just so big
We have a ~70 pound dog friend that we dog sit sometimes who is now 14 years old and not very mobile. I physically can no longer get him into the car, and he certainly can't do so himself, so H has to be around if we want to bring him anywhere. It does make me appreciate that our dog (who hopefully has many mobile years left) is only 40 lbs so I can pick her up easily if necessary.
I am really lacking compassion. I received 31 emails between logging in at 7a before I left home and arriving at work. 9 were not actionable.
And this is why my checklist doesn't get accomplished until the weekend. Boooo.
And this is also why I should not be on this page - but sometimes when I'm overwhelmed I avoid it and jump over here while I catch my breath.
I am the queen of Email Filing. When I respond to an email, I immediately file it in the appropriate client/project folder.
If it's sitting in my inbox, it's shit that has to be done before EOD.
Today I received and filed 54 emails directly related to client work. I have 1 left in my inbox and it's 4:50. Not bad.
I am getting better by using features in outlook that help with auto archiving and filing. But the pace of things coming in is faster than I can even read them and be on 4 1-hour conference calls (where I also read them rudely) and do project work and be available to my direct reports.
Quite literally my inbox looks like this sample almost all day long. this is from an hour of time this morning:
company wide email - subject - 10:53 HR Generalist - peoplesoft issue i have to solve or delegate (with 2/3 vacancies for new team) - 10:46 Recruiter - job code and title with action for me - 10:42 IT person - peoplesoft issue I have to process map out and answer - 10:42 Recruiter - job code and title with action for me - 10:41 Husband - something about sale of old house - 10:35 junk mail - 10:33 notice of voice mail and attached file - 10:33 (I was on a con call then) IT person - peoplesoft issue I have to address (see above) - 10:23 staff member - request for meeting - 10:19 staff member - request for another meeting - 10:18 junk mail - 10:17 C suite leader - hot issue requiring immediate attention 10:16 Other c-suite leader - same trail 10:15 my boss - same trail delegating to me 10:13 c suite leader issue - 10:12 other csuite leader weighing in 10:12 HR partner weighin in 10:12 top chief - 10:10 my boss escalating to top of co - 10:06 HR partner escalating hot issue - 10:05 junk mail - 10:04 IT director - request for meeting with 2 hours of actionable work embedded that conflicts with another meeting - 10:04 HR director peer - actionable item - 10:03 Wellness - i'm a fatass and need to work out - 10:01 HR partner - inquiry I have to research to answer - 9:59 ops person - question about peoplesoft deliverable to be delegated to someone requiring a lot of follow up on - 9:57 HR partner - stupid report I have to read (think office space TPS reports) - 9:52
I started my to-do list for the day at 4.
Maybe I need a union rep to advocate for unreasonable volume of work. Wait - I'm HR. dammit.
I just had a huge blowout with my boss where I used the word fuck many times and told her that her office was a black hole where important documents went to die.

I can definitely emphasize.
I have set a goal to get down to working 2 weekday evenings plus 1 weekend day per week during the (9-month) busy season. I haven't yet reached that goal. But, I do think it says something about my attitude and about work culture in general that that sounds like a good goal to set.
If you had actually clicked thru to my profile or read it beyond a cursory glance, you would have seen that I was employed by THE COMPANY for 7 months in 2013.
I highly doubt that VP WHO FIRED ME would be pleased that, of the people in the Milwaukee area you contacted for this job, you picked me. I am not best pleased myself, as the circumstances surrounding my departure from that company were *incredibly* negative.
Suffice it to say, I am not interested in the position, or any other position The Company may have to offer. And I strongly suggest that you do a bit more research before contacting your next prospect.
I know you want to be professional and all, but I think you could have made your point stronger by attaching this gif to your email:
(Also I'm really sorry you had to deal with that. Sounds horrid.)

giggling over here!
I had the exact same goal to make things manageable.
But then we went and did this home selling thing and I cannot get enough work done on the weekend. And my cpap tube cracked and I got a wrong replacement so I'm not even sleeping well or firing on all cylinders all the time.
I just got this email via LinkedIn. Slightly edited by me....
Hi Curly,
I'm working with Company That Fired You When You Were 35 Weeks Pregnant, a full-service advertising agency for over 20-years to find an Integrated Producer, Which is a Fancy Term for Digital Project Manager. You know - the position you were FIRED FROM.
The VP who was Responsible for Canning your Ass asked me to reach out to you and learn more about you. I work as a consultant, not a recruiter.
What does your availability look like over the next couple of days?
I just had a huge blowout with my boss where I used the word fuck many times and told her that her office was a black hole where important documents went to die.
Uhm, this one needs a follow up. Please?
She's a fucking lunatic bitch. She said something to me that was over the line and I blew up. She has often accused me of losing or misplacing documents and being disorganized (not this time, though).....and every.single.time. she has found what she is looking for in her office which resembles a hoarder's office. She always seems shocked when something like this happens and can't understand why what she's saying is offensive or just not fucking funny.

Thanks - I did remember the backstory (well, generally that she's a hard person to work with)...I was just wondering if she ended up blowing up back at you, or if you went home early for the weekend, or if she tearfully apologized, or...
(I realize this is none of my actual business so feel free to tell me to MYOB if desired.)

Oh yeah. The 3rd word out of my mouth was fucking and she was pissed because "you can't talk to me that way." Welp. I just did, bitch. I didn't go home early, but I wanted to. She did apologize...after I said the same thing to her that she said to me. Funny how it can be offensive and rude coming out of my mouth and not hers.
I don't think she's come across anyone like me. I don't take her shit. And she's not going to be able to find someone like me who can do what I do for the pennies she pays me. And she knows it so she backs off.
I sincerely hope some of the resumes I've been sending out get some action soon.

This perfectly describes me general feeling toward life right now.
Tried to plan on going to a small, local wine festival tomorrow to get us away from sitting around the house waiting and being depressed...and it's gonna thunderstorm all damn day.

Some of the things posted yesterday (about today's anniversary) have nearly done me in. I'm normally much better at sequestering myself from FB during this time but didn't do it soon enough it seems.
