Yes, since DH started a new job last week. There was no lapse in work for him but since it takes a while for his checks to be "set up" we have a lapse in pay. I'm not worried though
yes, but we chose to make things tight for a few months so that we can hit an e-fund goal by july. i should have a job by mid-august, too, which will officially make us DINKs for the first time in our three year marriage!
Yep. I started a business in March and have not yet taken an income from it. So we're living on just DH's pay but still paying for childcare. And I do contract work in the summer but we decided to put that income into a special fund for a big family trip to Spain next year. So, yeah it's tight!

no - but we did start out the year with a lot of expenses. new car, $6k in medical bills, new patio table, new bedroom set for 2nd house, so we're watching frivolous spending, but I wouldn't say money is tight at all.

Dear God, yes. It's just me, and a one income household sucks. I just cancelled cable, dental insurance, went from full coverage to liability on my car, and am couponing like mad, and it feels like I'm one blink away from disaster. My AC died for good 2 weeks ago, and I'm just going to go without until next summer because I don't have $3k to burn, and I just had to replace a broken window this week for $400.
We're actually doing very well right now. My husband is a professor and for years has been on a 9 month contract with no option to spread the pay out over 12 months. That made for some lean summers. This is the first year his pay has been spread out for the entire calendar year so his teaching a spring class is just extra money in our pocket.
I'm not sure I'm on EI right now during mat leave which is about 55% of my regular gross income. I don't know when I'll get my first cheque though.
From what I can see on my reports I'm going to be pulling in more than I expected. And it will be slightly more than I was making at my old job when we bought the house...so I know we'll be able to pay the bills. But we're not really used to living in a budget anymore and we've got this baby coming into the mix. So we'll see
This is part of the reason I came back to mm recently after being a bit MIA for quite a few months. Gotta start thinking about finances again instead of being rather ladeedaa

Yes-ish. We are still paying for everything in cash, but we're having to cut into our savings a little to make ends meet at the moment (unplanned car repairs), and we aren't 100% sure that our house is going to sell, based on what the realtor said about the VA appraisal. So if that falls through, things will get even tighter. Ugh.
Yes thanks to the upstairs toilet that decided to leak into the kitchen and family room. Insurance is involved but we've had to lay out money for repairs and cleanup. I hate dipping into the house account for this.
Yes. I am just finishing a stint as a full time grad student.
Husband and I have spent the last year living in two cities (ie: paying for housing and life x2) plus the cost of travel back and forth to see each other. Money has certainly been very tight, but we have made it work and I am proud of us for making it this far.
I will finish my program in July, move back to where my husband lives and start a full time job in August. Life will be MUCH better.

A little bit. We've had a lot more unexpected expenses come up than usual. In the last two weeks, we have had to make repairs to my car, DH broke our lawn mower, our toaster oven broke, our fryer broke (but that was still covered by warranty at least), and I fell and injured my ankle and leg which has resulted in a lot of medical bills and loss of my part-time income. We just moved into a new home a couple months ago and that ended up costing a little more than I budgeted.
It feels tight because last month my self-employment income was down a little, and I had paid my quarterly taxes. I'll make up the deficit this month, but things still feel tight since we've been directing a lot of extra income at our car loan (paying at least double payments or more) to get it paid off. DH also had unexpected dental surgery this month and we had to pay for the deductible for that. Then we decided to purchase a Dyson vacuum, and while we can afford all those things, it feels tight since we're used to spending money on dining out, and also putting more money in the bank. Since we're directing so much at the car, we feel poor-er than we really are.
yes- i'm, at best, part-time employeed right now. it sucks but we can at least still afford all of our bills and a few small frills in the budget, now and then.
It's about to be. This school year was better than last in terms of the number of days I was able to sub, but the school year ends in 2 weeks and I have nothing lined up for the summer. Hoping to find a ft job for fall.
