I want to fly out to Connecticut and beat the hell out of one of my clients. He is a total ass. Thankfully I don't have to deal with him much directly but still. Everytime I see an email from him, I cringe.
Speaking of flying, I leave for Denver on Monday and am excited! Even though it's a business trip, it will be nice to get away.
A close friend announced that she's moving out of town and I'm pretty embarrassingly upset about it. It's not a surprise, but there has been a lot of planning involved and she never made a peep about it (her h and my h work together so I totally get that). I found out bc h called me and read me the "it's been great working with you peace out" email that he sent. I know that I'm being completely irrational, but I just want to whine "who cares about moving close to your family, stay here with meeeeee."
:-( I totally get it. That sucks. One of my close friends is in academia and has not yet secured a long-term position, so when job postings go up each year and she gets called to the other side of the country for interviews, I get nervous. Of course I would be thrilled for her if she scored a tenure-track position somewhere, but I'd be beyond bummed for me.
I wrote back basically with an, "oh, that's so sweet of you! Why don't we figure something out after he's born, since you know we can't plan when that's going to happen, haha."
I am hoping that if I politely defer a few times she'll just drop it eventually.
To complicate things, she wants to schedule it NOW, but a) we don't know when I'm going to birth this baby; b) she wants to do it when MIL is in town meeting the baby; but c) we don't know when MIL will be in town to meet the baby because she's coming after my mom and sister fly down, and I have no idea when that will be or for how long.
She did also mention hosting it at her house, but she is on the complete opposite side of town, which is a 40 minute drive each way. I'm not sure which I'd prefer--people raiding my house with a newborn, or having to cart a newborn that far away and back again.
The funny part is that she is a pediatrician. You would think she would know that new moms are frazzled and that babies shouldn't be passed around like crazy.
No, different doctor. There are a lot of doctors in the family.
