loira- that's the way it is with the high risk OBs here too. My first appointment with the high risk OB was a mistake, my GP sent the referral to the wrong OB office by mistake. (But with everything it turned out the best way it could have.) hopefully you won't need the high risk OB.

T minus 6 days until our first ultrasound. As I was bemoaning the lack of symptoms to DW last night, she pulled up a list of early pregnancy symptoms and declared everything A-OK because I'd had gas yesterday afternoon. Niiice.
I actually have been pretty tired, and as of this morning my boobs are starting to hurt. I just really want some solid ultrasonographic reassurance. And to know if we have one or two in there.
thiswillbe- my first u/s is early next week too. I am really nervous over the 1 or 2 part. My beta was very high! DH thinks it's impossible for me to have twins. We will see if he's right.
@natariru did you try the jolly ranchers tip? I get ridiculous motion sickness and swear by those sea bands. I know some people have had them work while pregnant too, might be worth a shot??

I just had a JR and it did nothing for me. Saltines are my go to!

awick14 - my betas were really high too but thankfully only one baby in there! My OB reassured me that high betas are not really indicative of twins and thankfully she was right for me!

Ugh, I'm so over this nausea!
My BFF said she liked sour patch kids for nausea. I did that occasionally, but I eventually made my tongue raw

Conversely, I had relatively low betas with the twins (my first beta was 31 at 12dpo), and, well, had twins.
Of course, my doubling time with the twins was 28.8 hours and this pregnancy the doubling time is 28.5 hours... gulp.
thiswillbe can I ask how many follicles you had? I love a good Beta/Headcount game Though, my doubling time this pregnancy was 32 hrs, so there's that.
Two. One 22 mm and one 20 mm, both on R.
With the twins, I had one 19 mm and one 17 mm, both on R. (We always say DD is the one that was 17mm, since she's so feisty.)
@natariru- those sea bands, that bcarp30 mentioned, are amazing!
@cookiemonster03 and thiswillbe, I'm kinda hoping it is twins because then we would be closer to our originally wanting 3-4 kids. But DH may have a heart attack if there's two. Lol. I'm a twin so I may be biased when I say twins are amazing.
The hospital I will deliver at just announced their opening date for our brand new maternity wing. It was supposed to open in Oct but it's way behind, they have a date now of March 6th. I am overly excited about this. The current wing is 35+ years old.

beta results came back... 194 at 12dp5dt (17dpo). I feel like that's low. progesterone was at 45. and for some reason I go back next Monday for a second beta instead of this upcoming Thursday. it's going to be a long week. I may need to place an order on Amazon for some cheapie Wondfos.

What is with the long wait between betas?! Ugh, I hate that.
We've all said it before and we'll say it again (and still not believe it when we're the one affected), but a slightly lower-than-average beta doesn't matter, just the doubling time.
jessnpaul, I had TERRIBLE early cramping. Like it would wake me up in the middle of the night and have me doubled over. All is well though! It went away around 8-9 weeks.
I can't remember who was talking about nausea, but I too loved Sour Patch kids however they made my tongue raw too so I switched to chewy Sweettarts. Preggie pops work well too!
Not much new here, just counting down the days until my a/s next week! I'm excited and terrified, but more just ready for it to be here!
That is a long wait, kellikans! I think it's a great number, though, and good signs with the tests darkening. I completely agree that it just matters how it increases, and I hope they'd consider doing another beta sooner rather than later, for your peace of mind.

@cookiemonster03 if next beta goes well, my first u/s will be 10/5. which is also stressful since DH will be out of town. maybe if the results are good next week I can ask them to do it on Friday? what's the earliest that they'll do them? I think I would be 5w6d at that point.
Mushe I don't think I'll get an earlier beta. my doctor said that the number is right in line of what they like to see. and I guess getting an earlier draw really won't change anything.
I guess I was just expecting a higher number since I got a clear positive at 11dpo. and it doesn't help that I have pretty much no symptoms other than cramping. my boobs don't even really hurt. they've been more painful before getting my period.

Totally totally normal not to have symptoms yet. My boobs didn't start hurting until 6 or 7 weeks. Heck, if you look back to the May/June check-ins, I'm sure you'll see me complaining about not having symptoms yet too!
5w6d is on the early side for sure. My first ultrasound was at exactly 6w and the doctor couldn't definitively identify a heartbeat. But I agree that I wouldn't want to go without my husband.
kellikans - The boobs hurting will come. It was a couple weeks before mine started hurting. And I didn't start getting morning sickness until 8 weeks. So don't worry about not having any symptoms yet. It's interesting they are making you wait so long for the second beta. I had an ultrasound done at 5w3d and there wasn't a heartbeat yet, exactly a week later i had another one and there was a very clear heartbeat. I don't know if I'd ask for one so early. My H didn't really get anything out of the first 2 ultrasounds that I had. It was the third one, where we could hear the heartbeat, that was really cool for him. I get wanting him to be there, how long is out of town for?
awick14 - My first beta at 13dpiui was 208 when i went back for my second one at 17dpiui it was 1653. Due to it being so high i did have an ultrasound 2 days later to check for placement. My H about lost it when she found 2 sacks. We did only end up with one as the other was a vanishing twin.
