I did a competition at my gym on Saturday. Wasn't anything crazy serious, but it was 250 reps of 10 different exercises.
I totally bonked the ring rows. Bad. I brought shame to my family! I managed to make up for it by catching up afterwards but I am now on a total mission to strengthen my upper back, chest and arms.

I lost a little more as of yesterday! Down 7 pounds since July 20. Just got done from a brief elliptical session because I have book club. I swear I'm going to start running soon! But I'm definitely seeing improvement in my strength - my angled push-ups are getting better, and I'm making progress on incline bench press!
I'm forgoing the wine, but the trick will be moderating sweets tonight since it's a milestone birthday for one of our book club members!

I did a 5k trail run on Sunday and wasn't as slow as I expected I'd be. It was hard, though. I walked most of the 2nd mile that was through the woods.
I went back to the gym and lifted today.
I had a health screening yesterday and my cholesterol is "borderline high risk," which is the same as last year. I really need to get my act together with the food. You know, after we go to the Polish festival tonight...
My BMI was high, too, but the health counselor that reviewed the results said that BMI doesn't mean anything. Last year, the person asked if I got any cardio exercise in, while I was nearing the end of half-marathon training. Grrr.

I'm sick, so real working out is not happening.
We ended up walking nearly 6 miles at the race on Saturday.
I'm hoping to go to the gym today, but I have meetings bracketing each end of my workout time and then I have to leave early because the car is making funny noises. So I'm not sure I can justify it.

In the last month (2 weeks of which were holiday), I've gained 5 lbs. I have eaten and drank everything. Most of it will be water weight but I definitely need to rein it in!
I had two field hockey matches that I played on Saturday (and it was hot for hockey), have hockey training tonight, will try to lift at least 1-2 times this week (we'll see). And then at least two more matches this upcoming Saturday - good thing I'm a goalie!
I ran 22 minutes without stopping! (well...jogged.) WHATEVER. NO WALKING.
this is a repeat because I totally already bragged about it.
I'm just excited that picking up running again is going fairly smoothly. My legs seem to remember what to do. I'm on track to not embarrass myself during my 10k in November. This week is back to work though, so I'm unsure how scheduling said running is going to go. Today is easy because I'm WFH. Thursday will be the kicker.
I went to my OB-gyn yesterday for a separate issue, but talked to her about my weight and some other mental stuff going on. She immediately agreed to a full blood draw.
This was after she saw me nekkid, which means she saw all the bruising from my bike accident and asked me if I was safe at home. I laaaaaaaughed.
Running is going okay, thanks to 1. the return of glorious fall weather (crossing my fingers 70 degrees and humid before the sun comes up doesn't rear its ugly head again because I am so done with that nonsense) and 2. the very tentative grip I have on my PF issues. I'm finding it flares up when I run in shoes that have less stability, but got better last week when I got out an older pair that are more stable than what I was running in*, so I picked up a pair of Brooks Adrenalines on supersale this weekend. They have even more stability, and have never steered me wrong in the past so lets hope this keeps up. Thanks to mild injury and motivation issues my fall half marathon time goal is absolutely shot to shit so at this point I'm just going to go out and have fun.
*ironically, these shoes were what triggered the PF in the first place last fall (they're Brooks Ravennas, which have less stability than the Adrenalines I had been running in). But they're more stable than the Nike Lunarglides I tried this summer, and apparently with my Superfeet inserts my feet like the Ravennas just fine.
I ran yesterday! Every run feels like a major accomplishment right now so you're all going to have to hear about this every time.
25 minutes slow and steady. Got some random twinges in my lower right calf and left knee while I was warming up...probably because I didn't stretch at all after my last run. Made sure to be better this time.
Also I can do two full pushups. And I had dreams last night about doing pull-ups. How does one work up to a pull up without gym equipment? Is that possible? pixy0stix

I walked 2.97miles in 55mins yesterday morning, If I didn't need to get to the gym to shower and get to work I would have made it an even 3miles. I did my 2wk of C25K this morning.
A gym friend is moving to CA on Saturday so a group of us are taking her out to lunch this afternoon, Fiji, I have to look up the menu, I've never been there before.
I'm trying to get a group together to do Dietbet, if you're interested let me know.

If anyone is interested I did sign up for the dietbet and I just joined a challenge. It was only 25.00 and the pot is up to 375(?), if anyone is interested in joining with me. www.dietbet.com/games/71813#how-it-works

I saw this this morning and forgot to comment.
You need to work on your lats, so focus on your back muscles. Which... is kind of hard without gym equipment.

Do you have access to a pull up bar?
Do the monkey bars at the playground count? Because I have ample access to those. We have two playgrounds within walking distance, once of which is generally deserted and has really tall monkey bars. And some lower bars. like this actually:

Negatives are a really great way to build up strength for a pull up - Jump up so your chin is above the bar and just hold for as long as you can, then slowly lower yourself down.
I'm down 7lbs from the start of the month. I kept plateauing at 6lbs lost, and then would regain, so that 1 extra lb is making me happy.
I'm doing a challenge at my barre studio to do 20 classes in 30 days, and am supplementing with pilates.
I've also been diligent about avoiding grains and sweets, and limiting booze to the weekend. I say "avoiding" rather than "eliminating" since the county fair is this month, so fair food.
While lifting at the gym in the free weight area, a group of young (10-11 yr old) girls walked by to go to the climbing wall. I never felt prouder that I was the only woman lifting with the boys. After my lifting workout, I used the squat rack as a barre to do some feet strengthening. I had some curious looks.
I don't know what to make of my weight and fitting of my clothes. I like what I see in the mirror. I love what my body can do. I am 15 lbs heavier than a year ago and my pants are all tight. My skirts fit in the waist, but not the hips/butt. My shirts are fitting tighter on my arms. Those are all signs that the weight gain is real. I am back to tracking food to check on that, even though it makes me feel slightly neurotic.
DH and I are tracking on MFP again, which does work for both of us. I really only want to get back below 150, as I tend to drift upwards when I don't pay attention. So I need to lose another ~5 lb.
Unfortunately, I have a parking spot for the next month, and 90% of my exercise is biking to work. Still, the reduction in stress of being able to park at work is real.
I have no idea how to keep active this winter. I hate winter.
I need some help. I stepped on the scale yesterday and I have gained 17(!!) pounds since February. I cannot get my eating under control and for the first time this summer, I have felt my weight really affecting my running...I literally cannot run like I used to carrying this extra weight. I know what I need to do but in can't do it. I get home from school and I eat everything in sight and it's junk. I drink too much beer. I have let regular exercise fall to the wayside since my last race.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I need advice. Or tough love.
You can. You are capable. You are choosing to do something else.
Start with one thing. Beer drinking can only happen on the weekends. Or a certain number of beers per week. Junk snacks can only happen on a specific day. Find some replacement snacks.
Be patient and forgiving as you remember old habits.

You can do it. As pp said, you have to choose to. But you CAN, I promise!
Pick 1 or 2 things to focus on. Can you get the junk out of your house?
Yesterday, I just wanted to have a lazy evening to myself and snack in front of the TV. Except I stopped buying junk food. When we want a dessert, we buy single brownies or pieces of cake from the grocery store bakery. So my snack yesterday consisted of 5 crackers, 2 Babybel cheeses, and a spoonful of peanut butter. Still probably more than I should have eaten, but I feel pretty good that my indulgence consisted of reasonable portions of relatively healthy foods. We had no chips, candy, or baked goods in the house to nosh on.
Plan and prep a hearty snack and put it at the front of the fridge or out on the counter each morning so that it's the first thing you see when you get home.
