We have a wedding this weekend and next. I just tried on the dress I was going to wear to both and I look pregnant. Like, legit with child.
I need a dress (or shirt and top) that doesn't make me look knocked up or like a whale. I typically like an empire waist, but I think that's the problem in this situation. My stomach is still my big problem area, so that shape dress is just.emphasizing my fatness.
I'm 5'10' and generally a size 14. So not thin, but generally proportioned. However, even though the rest of me is generally that same size/shape(rectangular, not too curvy except in the boob region) my stomach is still super fat and jiggly and lumpy.
Please help! Doesn't need to be super dressy, but does need to be cheap, lol. Wrap dress? Skirt and blousy top?

I hate seperates at weddings so I vote dress. I'm about your size but a different shape. I've seen women with your build look amazing in sheaths, especially ruched sheath dresses.
Oh, you sound like me. It's soooo crappy and NOTHING looks good. B/c I am fairly "normal" looking otherwise, and have thin legs, but a big belly, I'm even more likely to have people think I'm pregnant. I had two weddings this summer and TOTALLY still looked pregnant in everything. Sometimes I see people looking curiously at my stomach.
Even though it wasn't my first choice, I did the separates thing. It worked out fine and I have no regrets. I wore a straight, knee-length black skirt with a long top to each one, with jewelry and dressy shoes. That was by far the best choice for me out of the options I had. I got a shirt cheap at JCP that worked out--kind of a silky tunic thingy. For the wedding we just had a couple weeks ago, I felt like I could not wear the SAME skirt yet again. I bought a skirt and top at Kohl's, and again, it was fine...not the best, but it was fine. I got a flow-y, pleated knee length skirt. Thought the pleats would be horrible but actually it looked nice. Wore it, again, with a longer-length top and jewelry.
Wrap dresses are horrible on me. I recommend the separates. Or, if you are a bit further along than I am on getting rid of the tummy, I have had luck in the past with baby weight with a straight, PATTERNED, sheath-type dress. Seems like a bad idea, but it looks pretty good. Can wear with a long dressy cardigan, too.

I would go to Old Navy. Lots of cheap dresses. Maxi dresses are pretty good. The TJ Maxx here sometimes has some good stuff for cheapish. I've done the skirt and nicer top route as well. Depends on how formal the event is? I wore the skirt/top combo to a wedding at an alpaca farm. I feel like dresses are more formal for some reason.
I think I would go for a dress, but something a little structured - not too flowy. Or pair it with a cute blazer/jacket to make it look more polished. I think flowy can look like maternity clothes.
Another vote for old navy if you're wanting something flattering and less expensive. Lbd is the way to go. I have a fit and flare black dress from in that was like 25 bucks and I dress it up or down and get a ton of compliments. It hides the tummy and is great if you are busty.

My stomach is my problem area too, and for my bil's wedding this summer i seriously hunted for a dress that looked like it was a separate skirt and shirt, but still a dress. I ended up finding one, and the way it fit was like a pencil skirt with the top part puffed out a bit, so that really helped disguise my stomach issues.

I think dresses with ruched tummies (am I spelling that right?) Dresses are flattering on everyone. I have had a lot of good luck at tj max and marhsalls. Dresses under $20 that look great. I like old Navy too but their dresses tend to fit me funny.
I am shaped the same way. I have found a lot of dresses at TJ MaXX. I look for thicker fabric and if I do empire waist I look for something with a thick band under the boobs. I have had good luck at JCRew Factory too.
Ok, here is the one for the 3pm in someone's yard wedding. Its blue with little cutouts all over nd a nude lining. like it and it fits me well...except its pretty short and I'm feeling self conscience about it. Tell me if I'm too old to wear a dress this short. And no, I'm not wearing tights, its fucking hot here.
Here is the second one. It's navy with navy beading on the neckline. Its dressier and a more appropriate length. Lol. This is for the next weekend in Chicago. I'll wear nude pumps with this one.
Thanks guys. Que- I'm a spaz, sp I will likely feel uncomfortable no matter what I'm wearing. So fuck it. I look cute and I may as well show of my legs,as they are the least fat part of me right now
