Anyways, my random is that I have discovered the pure bliss of taking a nap on Saturday. It's like my new thing. I have never been a napper but perhaps now that I am getting older, I just need more rest. I literally snoozed while ds snoozed for about an hour and half on Saturday and woke up like a new woman. I was so refreshed. Can't believe I have been missing out!!

I've been doing that every Saturday for the last month. It's amazing! I think I will start planning on it. It is so helpful. Especially when dh is home because then I can sleep until I actually wake up.
My random - there are so many forms to fill out and people to call in the next few days to get my girls switched to the new daycare!

I've been fighting a terrible chest cold for the last few days. Today has been heaven having both the kids at school. I watched a movie and am binge watching some kardashians. I only have to parent both kids for an hour and a half until dh gets home. It's been a big +1 in the no more kids category.

A couple weekends ago DS happened to nod off in the car on our way home from somewhere, so when we got home I laid him down on his bed and told DH I was going to lie down for a bit too. I was all excited to finally take an afternoon nap after ages, but when I laid down I couldn't sleep. Nap fail - I was so pissed!!
Today is cool and sort of drizzly so far, so I guess we'll be staying inside. I would love to just lie on the couch and read a book, but I don't think DS will let me. I think several more hours of playing trains is in my future instead. :?
No school today and I slept in until 9. I love when I don't have to drag my ass out of bed at 6:30 on a Monday morning.
I would legit buy my kids a pony if they slept in until 9. My dd was waking me up at 5 with hi mommy and 800 kisses. When I wouldn't let her kiss my lips because I'm sick she cried. Sigh.

It's supposed to rain so hoping to get the boys outside before it does. Both kids are being wild and making me rethink our plan for a third. My friend blew me off for brunch yesterday and told me she's worried my kids will turn out badly because of dH's parenting. I told her she can duck right off!

I love this time of year. Cold and crisp in the morning, but then warm in he afternoons. If it wanted to cool off another 10 degrees in the afternoon, I wouldn't be sad, but this is working for me. DD is starting a theater class after school today and she is pretty psyched. I think I have everything I need to start DD's Halloween costume today, so fingers crossed for a good nap from DS.

DH is working on having reasonable expectations for a two and four year old, but other than that, he's not an awful parent. It was such a shitty thing to say. We've been friends for ten years and I'm think on it's time for a break. She's also pretty anti SAHM and makes comments about me wasting my life. I need new friends.

@mama2b - NCIS LA is on tonight and I plan on staying up to watch. It's my favorite
justbecause - seriously?? What kind of 'friend' says that?
mamaalysson - did you ever finish the quilt for your dd? Or her back to school dress? I've wondered a few times how you ended up handling that and what her reaction was.

I'm having a sad Monday. I found out this morning that one of my former students was shot and killed yesterday in front of the housing projects where he lived. He was one of my favorite students. He was charismatic, smart and so funny. It's just so senseless.

Met some friends at the park this morning. Our group seems to be growing which is great because 3 years ago I knew no-one! It was nice to get outside & talk to other adults.
Starting my diet back up today. This last month was so rough with DH being gone all the time. Got to be stronger this time.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. That's awful and tragic. What a waste of life.

Thanks for asking! The quilt top has big chunks pieced, but is not quite done yet. It keeps getting pushed aside for other projects. But, DD helped me sort out all the pieces she messed up, and we had a good talk about it. I need to get it finished for her.
I did finish her first day dress. You guys, it is so cute. She loves it so much, and it fits her like a dream. The pattern is fantastic.
DD lost her beloved stuff toy at the farmers market yesterday. When I realized it (bedtime) the kids and I ran back over and searched like crazy people but didn't find it.
DD cried herself to sleep so after school we're going to see if we can find a new one

My husband also has unrealistic expectations. He doesn't have siblings or younger cousins and has no idea what to expect developmentally etc. I occasionally find him reading parenting stuff online so he's working on it. But I constantly have to say "she's only 2 or he's only 5."
@chatterbox how sad! justbecause yes. You need new friends
We are moved in, but not all unpacked/organized (but that's ok, that's one of my favorite parts of moving). My body aches dude! DH did end up getting off work so all was well.

Ours are two and four. He's like "why can't he wait?" or "I told him not to touch that. Why did he try to anyway?" Dude. They are 2 and 4. Impulse control isn't the best.

I totally feel you. When DS was 2 DH once asked why he has to say no several times in a row. Lol

I totally spaced out this afternoon thinking my mom retired last week and was picking ds1 up from school. Luckily 5 minutes before the bell I realized my mistake and woke the babies up and ran! It was pretty hectic.
I have tricked ds1 into thinking white milk with one drop of chocolate sauce is real chocolate milk. He thinks he is getting a big treat and I am happy he is drinking so much milk! Win-win. He has yet to question the chocolate milk from granny's house being so much more chocolaty then at our house.

Are there actually men who have a deep understanding of child development (outside of those who do it for a profession) and have reasonable expectations??? I have never met such a man.
