Can someone just remind me the next time I plan a time consuming meal that my kids are not going to cooperate and I should just make nuggets or something? I think I might cry. Either dinner is going to be ruined or my house is....
Ack! I hate that, except it's usually h. Don't want to talk about my lemon rosemary chicken incident. Let's just say h made me so mad for not appreciating my culinary awesomeness that I stuffed all the left overs and fresh rosemary into the trash can. Super mature, I know.

My kids get TV time to avoid this. Ds gets his show from 330-4. Dd does from 4-430. Ds is somewhat helpful, plays well independently so he will help or play in his room quietly while dd watches her show. Dd is the PAY ATTENTION TO ME typical second child and when she "helps" generally screws things up so having her fully distracted during dinner prep is helpful.
I feel your pain. I gave them applesauce before dinner (but it was part of dinner) and then they refused to eat and just cried for more applesauce. Normally I serve fruit after the meal, but they were being very good and I really thought dinner would entice them. They did not get more and they went to bed hungry. I was not please and I will not serve fruit with dinner again.
