I would think that the problem with a minority Con govt is that the minority govt still have to do things like table a budget. The two remaining parties can't do that together. If the liberals win a minority and CHOOSE to form a coalition with the NDP, then in theory they would have a working majority.
Just during the ceremony? Wtf? Official documents would still have the picture and stuff, right?
I do get why people find the niqab problematic even if I disagree, but the practical impact in this case is like zero. I guess it's heartening to realize the US does not have a monopoly on stupid election bullshit.
Yes, identification requires an unobscured photo, and she can meet with a female officer of whatever to confirm her identity prior to the ceremony. It's a red herring "issue" to let all the racists in my newsfeed know it's totes cool to be a racist, xenophobic asshole.
I'm so scared we'll end up just where we were and be stuck with this nonsense for another 4 years.Â
The most ridiculous is how obscure of an issue it actually is. How many women wear the niqab? And how many of those women are requesting to wear it during a citizenship ceremony?

You mean compared, say, to how many Aboriginal kids live in poverty? Or how many reserves don't have clean water to drink?
The other day I took an online survey to see where it placed me. It had me agreeing most with the Conservatives. What?!?!? It would give two proposals and ask which one you agreed more with. However, I feel like some of the options were just so vastly differing it wouldn't give an accurate picture. Would you rather we save the environment or slaughter an herd of innocent kittens? Just because I don't want to kill kittens doesn't mean I want the environment to be decimated!

The other problems with surveys is that it compares platforms. The thing that makes me want to get Harper out isn't platforms, it's performance. The Conservatives have done some awful, awful things and I'll take a herd of innocent kittens off a cliff if it gets me a new government.

Two. Two women decided not to be sworn in since they couldn't wear their niqab.
I just attended a debate among the local (7!) MP candidates. PC candidate was on city council for 20+ years but she got SLAUGHTERED at the debate. Of course, my city is hippie dippie. Not that I would ever, ever vote for his party, but the communist candidate did a really good job. Lib, not so much. NDP and Green probably came out on top of the main parties.

I just took the survey and I thought it was say I agreed mostly with the Conservatives or at least the NDP, but it said Liberals. I agree with you on the way the questions were worded though, for some of them I didn't really agree with either option.

Did you use the pass button?
No, I answered all of them and just chose the answer closest to the one I think and I also clicked for more questions on each segment so that I would have the most accurate result.

I'm surprised that your CPC candidate came out for the debate. The CPC candidates in my city have been no-shows at our debates, promoting some hilarious Facebook postings. My incumbent is currently featured on a missing poster, because he's not been showing up for events and debates.
I think this is actually the first one she attended, and she's been slammed in the media for her absences.

I was mostly Green. Then NDP and liberal about the same. But I was 20% Christian heritage party and 17% conservatives. I am more Christian heritage than Harper. And I don't even believe in god.
