That is beautiful! I had a similar thing happen when I looked at real estate in my hometown. I have ZERO desire to move back there, though. Instead I live in a house with minimal character that is twice the price.

Gah. It's obscenely depressing where we live too...we could get like a 5 bedroom insanely good barn conversion or something if we live like 90 minutes further out of London. Instead we're in less than 950 square feet and it's falling apart, and we're paying waaaay more than I'd like to for it.
I love that so so much! I do the same thing with the city I grew up in. It's changing for the better, but it would take a miracle to make us move back.
My parents are always offering to sell us their 2nd home for cheap bc they'd love for it to stay in the family. Its a beautiful restored 1910 brownstone with 4 beds, 2 baths and a huge wrap around porch. Its in my hometown, which is a deal breaker. So tempting, though!
