All right so Juliet is sick.
No fever. But she is coughing and has a runny nose. Dr listened to her back and said her lungs are clear. I just need to watch for fever and monitor her breathing.
We stopped at my mom's house after the dr. because there was a huge accident on the highway and I was waiting until traffic let up to drive home. She was really fussy and when I tried to nurse her she was nearly screaming. I got her to calm down with the pacifier and shushing. Like she absolutely would not take the boob, which is weird. She's a big fan of boobs.
When we got home she screamed bloody murder until I was able to get her diaper changed and her back into her harness. I sat down to nurse her, sure she was starving, and the same thing happened. She fussed and screamed and I had to settle her down with the pacifier. She finally did nurse but it took a good 10-15 minutes to settle her.
I was able to suck a pretty significant amount of mucus out of her nose with the nosefrieda after she nursed. She's been sound asleep for about 3.5 hours now.
I'm guessing maybe she was freaked out that her nose was stuffy and it was making it hard to breathe?
I feel like a FTM because Jack has hardly ever been sick and he's never done this.
Sorry your sweetie is sick. I'm guessing the crying is probably because of the congestion making breathing/nursing hard. Keep using the nose Frida before nursing. Hopefully she will be back to herself soon!
It's really hard for them to suck, swallow and breathe when they are stuffy. Claire did that often last winter when she was sick. Try the nosefreda before nursing. Saline drops in her nose helped too (pissed her off too). I hope your little lady is feeling better soon!
Corinne has had a cold off and on for months and she does this frequently. I suction her nose several times during the day and try right before she eats which does help a bit. Hope she feels better soon!

I have a pillow under her crib mattress to elevate her a little. And I tried the nosefrida before nursing. I couldn't get much out but she did seem to have a full feed before bed. I guess I was hoping it wasn't a sign of a sore throat.
Sorry she's not feeling well. It's really hard but I always have to remind myself that sometimes I don't feel like eating much when I'm sick so it only makes sense that they don't either.
I'm glad she she had a good feed just now, hopefully she sleeps well and wakes feeling much better.
Will she take a bottle? Or even a syringe? It would be slow but might be a little easier than nursing for her for a day or two if she continues to fight it.
I'm sorry Claire caught Evans cold when she was 3 weeks old and it was horrible. The stuffy nose made it difficult for her to nurse and coughing fits often caused her to throw up whole feedings.
I hope she feels better soon. I suctioned a lot and would hang out with her in the bathroom with a hot shower running.
Eta: it has all been new to me too. Evan didn't get sick until he was well over a year old. Claire just recovered from her 4th cold.

Thanks, ladies!
She's still grunting and sniffling like a little pig this morning, but she's in good spirits.
Maybe it's good for her to get sick earlier than Jack. Since Jack didn't get his first cold until he was over 1 year, he never got used to the nosefrieda and screamed when he saw it. She fussed at first but generally lets me suck her boogers without much trouble.
Aw poor Juliet. She probably couldn't breathe while nursing. I heard about that accident too btw it was awful what happened. That area with te bottle nose construction always freaks me out. Those trucks go so fast. I hope she feels better!!
