Just finished a marathon. Ran terrible but not surprising for the injury issues I've had this cycle. Ended up running the whole thing (first time doing that!) so I had the endurance, just not the speed.
Good luck everyone else!
Congrats on making it through! Take care of yourself and hope you heal up well.
Thanks! The bright spot of today was my legs actually felt okay doing the the distance and like the injuries are gone. About 3 miles in, they just decided they didn't want to hold the pace I was going for so I,had to get a new game plan so I didn't crash hard at the half. Not to surprising for the speed and tempo workouts I had to miss.
Best line of the day though - "We could just pull a Cutler and quit 10 feet in"

I think I have a friend who ran the same marathon as you (based on your location)!
Congratulations on on your marathon, AND running it the whole way!

Sounds like it. I hope she had a great day too. It was a great day for a race. This was the first big race I've ever done where I was able to not travel and sleep in my own bed the night before. It was awesome.
Daaaaamn, H&Fers are CRUSHING it today!! Way to go, everyone!!
I planned to run my half at GMP, but that went out the window at about mile 4 because I just wanted to run! I ended up finding DH and running with him to help him PR (we finished at 2:02, his prior PR was 2:06). The weather was amazing! Crossing my fingers for repeat conditions at Baystate in 2 weeks!
I finished my second marathon ever today (first was in May with a 4:20). I had a knee issue shortly after that race and couldn't run for a good two months and my training for this marathon was not what it should have been. Knowing that, I had a plan to run/walk and finish in the 5-5.5 hr range.
That didn't happen. I got into my 11 minute mile-ish pace, it felt good, and I stuck with it.
Final time 4:33 which I am definitely surprised and happy with.
I am SO ANNOYED. I've been having a lot of trouble with my eyes since I started full time in the ORs and so a few weeks ago I went to the eye doctor finally and she put me on steroid drops for a couple days and told me to stay out of contacts for at least 2 weeks. It had been 3.5 weeks yesterday, so I went ahead and wore them about half the day (to run and do some stuff afterward). No major issues although my eyes were a little red by the time I took them out.
Well, I woke up in the middle of the night with them both burning and today they are painful and very photosensitive. I don't know if I'm going to be able to tolerate the sunshine enough to do my long run.

Congrats to all the other racers this weekend!!
Way to go! It was great to see you this morning as well! And thanks for fixing my sweats bag!

Ha, yes. He reminded me of the importance of carbs (goldfish) . He also faked me out when I got home and acted like he was going to hug me until he saw my medal and then pulled it off of me. So, obviously, it's all about the bling with him.

Way to go @mn06!!! That's amazing, how's your knee?! This race was soooo beautiful! I loved it until mile 20 when, TMI, I needed to vomit and spent the remainder of the race walk/running trying not to puke in someone's front yard and become an Internet sensation (every time I saw a portapotty I felt better and skipped it). I took a water bottle from a spectator at mile 14 and got way over hydrated/hyponatremic. Def threw up after the race, oopsie. Needless to say my second half was way slower, finished in 4:27:27 which I'm perfectly content with! I'll take it as my post-baby, terrible training cycle, goal race
MSP is a gorgeous place and I'm so glad I got to check this race off my list! And randomly run into jene at the expo, even though I was out of sorts in the moment ;-).
And my baby did the diaper dash, which was hysterically cute. She earned her first race medal, hopefully many more in her future

It was great meeting you! You should come back next year and run it again. This year's leaves did not do it justice, it gets even better! Great job, and I'm sorry you got sick!
Sorry you felt sick chitownbelle, but still a great time! You are definitely a fighter. Congrats on your post baby marathon comeback. I'm sure the diaper dash was adorable!

I knew since itd been a warm fall so far that the foliage wouldn't be all that impressive, but it was still so pretty! What a great place to live...you know, with winter and all

That sounds brutal! Congratulations on your finish!!

Had to update on my half yesterday! Scored myself a 7 minute PR yesterday! Weather was perfect! I felt strong all the way through, didn't need walk breaks! The biggest challenge for me is hydrating enough that I feel ok but not so much that I need a potty break. Accomplished that too, lol! Finished in 2:01! Would have loved to squeak out a 2:00 or under but dammit I am happy.

Thank you! I think the big difference was the weather. Last year it ended up being 90, this year mid 50's. Much better running weather and I didn't have to stop for walk breaks or a porta potty.
There is so much awesome in this thread!! So many post-baby comebacks, huge PRs, perseverance through less than ideal conditions; I'm so proud of all of you!! Congratulations!
I ran my 2nd Wineglass HM yesterday and while I missed my A goal of coming in under 2:00, I had a great time out there. It was a picture perfect fall day, and it was nice to get away with DH for a couple of days. I went out too quickly and at mile 8 or 9 I fell behind the pacer. Eh, I had a blast, including being surprised by my running bff who drove 2 hours at the crack of ass on Sunday to see me (ironically at the exact moment I needed a boost) and another 2 friends who randomly showed up at 2 different spots to cheer for me- I cried real tears. I also hugged a random stranger who had a sign "free hugs"- I guess I needed a hug. He was hilarious- swung me around and said "go finish strong sweetie!" I adore the running community.
