I'm so tired. J was up twice last night and K was up 3 times. She was much harder to get back down. 2 out of 3 kids woke up with a cold this morning. I'm sure you can guess which 2.
Last week I started thinking about last winter and all the sickness with penumonia, roseola, stomach viruses etc. It started to give me anxiety. So I vowed to be super diligent in washing the kids' hands and using antibacterial gel when I couldnt wash them. Looks like it's working really well so far lol.
Oh man. Someone in my FB feed is complaining that kids get sick this time of year because parents lack the cojones to make them wear jackets even when it's cold outside.Â
Um, what? If you're going to blame it on things beside the return to the petri dish of school, at least talk about the recent sudden swings in temperature or the going from overheated apartment buildings to the cold air outside or the extreme dampness of the last week that is probably a great breeding ground for germs, but to blame it on parents who won't wrangle their willful children into coats? No. Â
I would not take kindly to a post like this today. My kids have been wearing coats and are still sick today. I'm pretty sure it has to do with preschool/music class/library story time germs and nothing to do with whether or not they were wearing a coat. Ugh.

Ugh indeed. My older, willful child who insists on wearing shorts in October is fine health-wise, while the toddler who still allows me to dress him however I see fit has the sniffles.
I kind of love Monday mornings, lol. I WFH so it is so peaceful after H takes the boys to daycare and I'm home alone all day to decompress from the weekend. It's relaxing, ha.
This is my Tuesday and Thursday. I'm already counting down.
I just remembered next week is a 3 day weekend - WOOHOO!!!!
I am jealous of mcfelix 's nursery. I love that DD is finally in her own room, but it really bugs me that it's not "finished." We simply don't have the money right now to buy all the finishing touches I want. So I'm bookmarking things like crazy, wishing I had the money to buy them. So far I've bookmarked:
-blackout curtains -curtain rods -crib bedding (skirt and teething guards) -decor from Etsy -wall decal
I just need $200 to get this all done!
I got some of DS's wall decals from Zulily super cheap. They're by a company called Trafalgar Square. The remaining decals are by Blink and were a holiday gift from my MIL last year. I am not above asking for decor for a child who doesn't understand the concept of gifts yet.
It looks like we don't need blackout curtains. DS sleeps fine without them.
Oh I'm definitely asking for nursery stuff "for DD" for Christmas. That's just so far away, and I want this done now! /whine. Thanks for the rec, I'll check out Zulily. I want a pretty picky color combo though (metallic gold and turquoise) so I'll probably have to go a more custom route like Etsy. And the decal I have picked out is only $50. We just don't have a frivolous $50 to spend right now.
DD also sleeps fine with just the blinds that are there, but the sun is low b/c it's fall/winter. May not be the same story with bright sun in the spring. Plus I have cute color-coordinating blackout curtains picked out.
We were all in our usual frenzy of getting out of the house this morning. My 2yo sneezed and no one was paying enough attention to acknowledge it so he goes, "isn't ANYONE going to say 'bless you?!'" lol
LOL, if we don't acknowledge DS's sneeze he yells loudly "BLESS ME!!"
I had a shitty weekend. My uncle can't take the chemo anymore and they gave him 14 days. We went to my cousin's daughter's birthday party 2 hours away on Saturday and one of her friends straight up insulted me and then cousin's daughter snubbed my son and he got SO MAD at her he pouted the whole party.
THEN yesterday was a shitty day of running errands and I have my annual ear infection.
The funny party of the weekend is that my kid is holding onto this grudge like no other and TOLD EVERYONE including every cashier at Target and Walgreens and the sales girl at Lush " I am mad at my cousin because she wouldn't play with me at her birthday party"
I've emailed two people on Craigslist this morning about some stuff I want that they are selling. It's been a whole 30 minutes and they haven't emailed me back yet. I hate waiting. Come on people!!!
DS first asked me to be his girlfriend 17 years ago, today (we were in 10th grade!). And he asked me to marry him 5 years ago on the same date! Awwwww....
He thought because it was our 'anniversary', we were supposed to get married on the same date to keep Oct 5th for our anniversary. Um, no dude. We would have had to wait like 4 more years to get married for it not to be a weeknight wedding.

Well, I just got a decent job offer that I am going to take. I have some concerns about the long term health of the company and industry, but I need to get back to work.
I'm going to AW here: I installed a new POS system for my dad's restaurant this weekend. His old system was archaic, and now all the servers have ipad minis so they can take orders at the table, and run payments at the table. Plus, my dad is super resistant to change of any kind, so getting him to go along with the plan took a few months.
But, it's all in (and mostly wireless), we had little to no issues with it, and the whole process went better than I could have expected.
And then DH said, "you realize you pretty much signed yourself up as tech support, right".... (wilted)
DD fell asleep in the car on the way to the grocery store. I know once the cold air hits her she'll wake up. So I'm sitting in the car with her, letting her nap. She's been asleep for almost an hour. WTF child, why can't you nap this well at home! I'm going to have to take her out of the car soon, so I can get my shopping done before preschool pickup.
