I would size up 1/2 a size. Or order from zappos in your size and half a size up and then return the ones that don't fit. The ones I wear every day are ankle boots - They're the engineer 8Rs, so I dont think they're what you're looking for. My riding style tall boots are Cole Haan, which I also love.
I have narrow feet and ankles and the Melissa's were too wide for me - my feet kept coming out of them. I was super bummed because they were gorgeous. I tried going down a size and they were too uncomfortable. The Phillip is supposed to be narrower, but I don't like it as much as the Melissa.
I tried on some fryes before and I couldn't get my leg in even going up a size! I know the foot would have fit if I could have gotten it on. If I wasn't in a public place it would have been fine, I could try harder. But for now I prefer a boot with a zipper

Same! And I have the engineer shorties too!!
They take a while to break in but once they do they are AMAZING. I literally had BLISTERS for 2 weeks.
they are a little TOO tall though. I mean they are fine, but even half an inch shorter would be better for me but at least they don't actually come halfway over my knee like some tall boots lol

I LOVE my Fryes! I seriously get so many compliments on them. I have the Veronica back zip tall boots. I originally had a 9.5 but they were too small, so I returned them for a 10. Now they feel a bit big, but still totally fine. I'm wearing them today!
I really want to like Fryes but they hurt my feet! I have pretty bad bumps on the top of my feet from wearing heels all the time and they rubbed badly Boo.

Oh the Paige are nice too. Damn. I want to order multiple but I'm trying not to draw attention to this order by making it more expensive than it needs to be.
eta there is a dark brown.. it's defaulting to the cognac. I like the look of the dark brown
I like these!
the dark brown is $264 which isn't a bad price for fryes
Also the shaft height is 15 inches. The boots I ordered, I just checked and the shaft height is 16 inches so I think 15 inches would be an ideal height.

lol I have had this happen trying on boots in public before. So embarrassing. I have a high arch, and I think that's what makes it so hard to get my foot down into them. If it's a less structured style it's fine, but otherwise I need a zipper.
*following this thread because I still want new boots**
yes as I tugged, sweaty faced, I felt like yelling at those around me "this is my size, I SWEAR"

I just looked and the crew boots I have are 15 3/4 inches and they're too tall for me (I still wear them but when I sit I feel the top dig into my knee) so 15 would be better.
